Miami-based Burger King buys Tim Hortons for about $11B

Burger King says it's struck a deal to buy Tim Hortons Inc. for about $11 billion. The move creates the world's third-largest fast-food company and could accelerate the international expansion of the Canadian coffee and doughnut chain. The corporate headquarters of the new company will be in Canada. The two brands will continue to be run as stand-alone chains, with Burger King still operating out of Miami.

Together the company will have 18 thousand restaurants in 100 countries and make an estimated $23 billion in annual revenue. http://www.local10.com/news/miamibased-burger-king-buys-tim-hortons-for-about-11b/27736850

Hasn't the federal government learned from California, that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

They will probably try to pass legislation preventing Burger King from moving rather than admit the business and tax policies of the USA are running out the companies that can leave.

It doesn't matter, it's an idiotic bill.
Canada has been lowering their corporate taxes for the last few years, it's now less than half of ours, what about the US following suit

That really doesn't concern you UncleBuck, you don't pay taxes that contribute to welfare,
Try finishing school and better yourself, you will feel much better about the world.

hard to afford the start up on wages that don't even pay enough to feed yourself.
yeah it is hard but people that are determined will make more than minimum wage. it is called "minimum" not choose a career at mcd's and never move past fry cook. Anyone should be able to move up to management and be raking in a sick stacks of cash at 10 dollars an hour within a few years... when i worked at mcds when i was younger there was an autistic guy who had worked there for 15 years and was making 18.00 an hour.

The other problem with a start up is the markets are protected by massive regulations at the federal, state and municipal levels designed to keep energetic people from gaining market share and competing with the big guys.

Also many of the larger companies gain economies of scale that shift their expenses onto the public. For instance the roads that assist large companies that use just in time shipping etc. are largely paid for by the general public and this lowers the cost of doing business for the entrenched protected companies, but doesn't aid the small business nearly as much.

The unintended consequences of government / crony capitalism cause markets to become skewed.
