when i think british, i think that we are essentially the same people with different accents and governments.... so i have my theories, but why are we americans so hated elsewhere in the world?? is it because we are the "greatest nation on earth, and you HAVE to be like us... or we will force you" (gen. opinion of our leaders/ppl in power) or is it some other reason i am unaware of?

brits = bad teeth, limeys, IRA, red phone booths, big ben, tower of london, queen, soccer hoodlems and austin powers.

But one word that comes to mind is "refined."

no one expressed any hate, in the first post Woomeister stats he doesnt want any insults

no insults, and no hate; at least you wont get it from me; just curiosity on my part.... i am an "american" and answered his question in my opinion... then i went on to ask a question of my own; it is common knowledge (maybe just in propaganda filled usa) that we americans are not well recieved elsewhere in the world... i just wanted a non-american
point of view on the subject... i apologize if you took my sarcasm as an insult....maybe thats why we're evil:mrgreen:. do yourself a favor... when you see the name gogrow, it is not an insult or attack, if you feel that way, read it again; i'm here to bullshit, not start shit.:joint:

Sorry my friend I misunderstood, i thought that you were implying that someone in this thread had expressed hatred towards your nation. I think that Americans are not well received because of the image your TV shows seem to convey, that Americans are loud and brash and maybe more conservative nations find this offputting (for lack of a better word). Thats just a theory though. Also many people blame america for the recent war, not myself however, I believe that Blair was equally as responsible as Bush.

so far, im the only one that seems to really hate my nation... maybe yall are just being nice:mrgreen:..... i think that we, as a country not individuals, are a bully nation.... there's alot of those in this world, but our nation doesnt just assert it's tyrannical rule over it's own people; we have to try to push everyone else around also...let everyone know "freedom"... or lack thereof..... i hate this country:evil:; well, i take that back.. i love this country, i just hate its government.

I think you have hit the nail on the head, your gov'ts have consistently 'policed' the world with great arrogance and said it is in the name of democracy and keeping America 'safe'. The effect this has had on the foreign perception of Americans has been profound, genuinely as a Brit I can say that most people I know hate you due to this and other more trivial matters, like Americans general ignorance about anything non-American.

at least you knew what i was trying to say:mrgreen:.... it seems some people took my post as an attack....bet he's american too:mrgreen:. this country has gone downhill very fast and it is only picking up speed. my dream is to move the hell out of this god forsaken nation to a more peaceful one... not an option at the moment, so we are gonna take a pitstop in cali until life allows us the ability to move out... my wife has family in norway, so we are looking there as the first option.

When I think of Brits, I think of people much like us, but who consider more carefully before making rash decisions. In other words, an older, wiser version of us. And you all look like the Beatles in my mind.
