Thank you. I can afford that. What do you think would cover 3x3 area better. Horizontal in a decent reflector (I already have), or vertical near the top of the tent and let the tent walls reflect it? Third option would be to invest in a vertical hood like the Vertigro Air Cooled Reflector. I am using 5 gallon hempy bucket with pvc scrog net. I jack up the bucket with a step stool. My canopy is about 40" from the top of tent.

Most of philips cmh bulbs are universal(NOT the 860w, vert only)but run the most efficient vertically by design . Vert bare bulb is the best way if you design your grow room around it(stadium style).

2 magnetic mh ballast
2 330 all-start bulbs
1 vertical hood from ebay
1 horizontal hood I already have.

this will support veg autoflowers and flower with the other.

costs were minimal for the upgrade.

ballast $103 for 2

Thanks, I could not believe it myself when I saw the price. That is why I picked up 2. I have a veg tent and flower tent. In the veg tent I have 2 pheno clones and usually 1 to 2 autoflowers going. I was going to slowly pick up some leds to replace my really hot hps, but when I found out about the cmh, I could not resist. $203.00 for two ballasts and two lights. I couldn't get an a51 rw75 for that. These two light will replace a 400 watt hps in veg and 1000 watt in flower(it was overkill for 4x3 but it was all I had). I will have a 25 watt floodlight in each corner of the flower tent. I went from 1400 to 800 watts. I am expecting better results in veg and possibly better to the same results in flower.

Since the ballasts are already configured with 120v cords, is this ok to use, or do I need to buy 240 cord and wire it for 240. I can run 240 to it if it will be better?

120v is fine on the allstarts, the efficiency gains are minimal. Running vertical is definitely more important. BTW when using a vert reflector and small bulbs(330w) you need a mogul extender so that the bulb sits in the center for best reflection.
