How thick of an extension cord would be sufficient? Anyone know off hand the specifications to handle these watts or could possible hook me up with a link to a good power cord I could buy?

Wire gauge would be determined by distance...not a great idea to utilize an extension cord for that amount of wattage though

It depends on your voltage and length of extension.

2000w at 120v is 16-2/3 amps. (1000w is 8-1/3 amps).

Then use a wire-gauge table like this one (<<link) which says you can go about 10' with 12 gauge wire. 20' with 10ga. 30' with 8ga.

That's for 15 amp. You might reduce those lengths by 10% if you believe you'll go an additional 1-2 amps.

That table is for 12 volt circuits. I wouldn't use it for 120 V

It would probably be less expensive and cheaper to do a diy hard wire setup...the extension cords for a large rv come to mind and they were always pricey...with length, heat through the wiring is your biggest issue

I am an electrician.

12 for 1800 watts max 50'
10 for 2400 watts max 50'

If it was me I would use 2 of the 12 Guage cords instead of a single cord or just hard wire your system.
