At the 2006 census there were approx... 250,000,000 + or - over the age of 16 in the USA....

A study just out:

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/ali-meyer/record-92269000-not-labor-force-participation-rate-matches-36-year-low

there are 92,300,000 of us... that are not working or not in the work force any more....

Yes that is stay at home moms, students, doopers, gamers, laggers, loosers, retired, and homeless, [did I leave anyone out?]...add up to over one in three! 1 in 3 ! [That would be over 33% not employed, or ???]
So there is no need to feel strange any more... be proud if you can't find a job! 33 % of us can't or won't either !

Planned unemployment is a pillar of capitalism. Unemployment will never go away and it very likely wont go down for a very long time at this point. The jesters on TV and radio promising lower unemployment rates are liars.

Also, get a fucking job.
i can find more important issues to get angry at......paedophiles
much angrier now grrrr

are prisoners included?
Damn... prisoners.... how many in the US are locked up?
Incarceration in the United States of America is one of the main forms of punishment, rehabilitation, or both for the commission of felony and other offenses. The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate in the world. At year-end 2009, it was 743 adults incarcerated per 100,000 population.[3][4][5][6][7]

According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), 2,266,800 adults were incarcerated in U.S. federal and state prisons, and county jails at year-end 2011 – about 0.94% of adults in the U.S. resident population.[4] Additionally, 4,814,200 adults at year-end 2011 were on probation or on parole.[8] In total, 6,977,700 adults were under correctional supervision (probation, parole, jail, or prison) in 2011 – about 2.9% of adults in the U.S. resident population.[8] A 2014 report published by the National Research Council asserts that the prison population of the United States "is by far the largest in the world. Just under one-quarter of the world's prisoners are held in American prisons."[9]

You bet. Adds up to 'Corporate fascist oligarchy' to me pretty neatly.

Did you hear how Mitt Romney gave his kids over $100 million dollars- AND PAID NO TAX?!

That is a crime against our country every bit as serious as treason, because it is every bit as damaging.

Those who piss and whine about death taxes are either greedy or wildly uninformed about the consequences of the policy.

Not exactly. They don't count on unemployment rolls but if you ask a member of a prison work gang, he will definitely believe he is working. I believe he is, too- and that also constitutes a crime. After all, if he's (or she's) incarcerated, do you really think they're getting fair value for their efforts?

They may not count as Unemployed....
However they do count as part of the US so 2.5% or so, are lock up and also do not work, or count in the work force...
Good catch....
---
Random thought... so out of the 100 or so friends that you had as a teen ....
2-3 of them are locked up, or on parole etc.... were the signs there as a youth ?

Yeah. We all smoked pot. Just like both of my relatives who ended up in Federal Service.

'Lawfare' is an excellent one word description for what's happened in our country. Anytime officers get more rights than citizens is fascist.

this belongs in politics, but for some reason you are too embarrassed to show your face around there anymore, so you post out here now and hope no one notices.

fucking adorable.

kind of odd that the workforce participation rate is starting to shrink a mere 65-70 years after the post WWII baby boom, right when these millions and millions of people are hitting retirement age?

i mean, what are the odds of that?

fuck me running with a two by four and call me betty, this is astounding, earth shattering type of shit.
