Cloning Question

Hey guys

I have a 240(w) x 120(d) x 200(h) tent and have my plants currently vegging under one 600w light on one side of the tent until they get bigger I am about to top them and I am going to use this time to try develop my cloning technique. I was just wondering would it be a good idea to leave my propagator on the other side of the tent with the clones in it? It is currently 24 degrees C in there and the light is 1 meter above the plants. If this is a good idea would I still need a heat mat, or am I better off just keeping them under a CFL in a separate area or even just in the natural lighting of the house with the heat mat.

When you top them make sure you use alcohol to clean scissors and make a tray or pan that holds 1 inch or so of water make a clean 45 degree cut with stem in water. As far as temp and light you need high humidity a dome of some sort will keep humidity up. I cloned mine in a cabinet with cfls you should be fine in separate area if the humidity is right.

I would do CFLs or LEDs. I have never used HID personally, but I would be concerned about too much light.

I cut, put in water, slice 45 degree, dip in clonex, put in solo cup with damp MG seed starter (with about 30% added plain perlite). I then take a baggie and make a small slice in the bottom. Then I mist into the baggie and place over the cup. Instant humidity dome.

I hate MG for anything but clones and seedlings. But their seed starter works great for me for those. I would say I have about a 90% success rate. I always cut one more than I need and usually end up tossing one or using for some experiment

A small florescent light is fine for clones. the big lights might hurt you. a heat mat might not be necessary depends on the temp.

If you can't get cloning gel try honey I had good results from it I lost 2 out of 14 and I'm thinking it had more to do with the rockwool I used. But thrive alive works great for cloning. Spray them with it till they show growth. Try seed soil or coco if you get rockwool I would go with the 1.5 inch ones 2 Inches took longer to root for me.

I put a hole in a floatable piece of polystyrene and float it in some water with the cutting through the hole... as the water evaporates the cutting floats down with..

Pecker nailed it here, a small lite will allow you to just have that photo motor just ticking over, you want her alive but not growing, use honey ..its just as good as the most expensive cloning gels ...better yet go the DIY aero cloner method ...did I say it was fun ...it is with on average 95% return

man i tried alot of ways to clone and i found the best way. the 5 gallon bucket cloner with misters that set up is great. had roots in 6 days some was showing at day 4 -5 . used to take 12 -14 days all the other ways i tried.
