yes mate , I did mention it in my post when it happened,
I was sent this other LED aswell to confirm the problem, so the last pic of the board removed is mine.
Always good to get picture backups eh? especially of faults like this.
At first, diplomacy is always best,,,and I did try to push them into action about this but
Eshine just kept repeating it was the controller board but paid no attention to the burnt out wire problem even tho I had sent them the solution, to re-route the power lead.
I was waiting for a press release on this problem and maybe even a explanation first from Eshine themselves, but heard nothing.
I did warn them that there could be more out there like this and they could at least advise people of the potential problem
But not to scare anyone, but inform them to maybe get their LED down and open it up, its really really easy to open, take off the VOID stickers first tho cos they're all little screws under there.
it all just lifts off and the power cable is right there.
But nope, still nothing, So Borg had the same and we thought, enough is enough
effin hate LED politics. trying to be the nice guy all the time, but when this happens, it makes ya rethink the situation.
So, Time to spread the word. Cant say we didn't give them the chance first tho,
Especially when all it takes is a small screwdriver to check, there is enough slack on the power cable to cut it back or even replace it with better, water resistant wiring,
as another forum member did mention it could be the high humidity inside the unit that's causing it to corrode like that & I agree,
But on both situations the RH was nominal within the tents. .... but how can you actually measure the RH inside a :LED unit?
So perhaps this is the part of the cause?
ontop of the problem of the power driver pressing down on it aswell?
Both are Easily resolved by replacing the power cable between the power driver and the controller board.
One thought comes to mind tho, if it was just moisture causing this then surely the power connections to the driver right above it would be the same?
interesting.
Either way this LED is pumped to the max,
Now its been running for a time now, the whole unit itself does get really hot to the touch, especially when ambient temps are high.
But it doesn't actually affect the temps of the growing area that much when its hung high.
All I can say and do is just inform everyone of this and advise them to check it out themselves.
Better to prevent then to cure or live with regret eh?
Peace.
