So Straight up, If i Switch from shultz 5-40-5, miracle-gro 12-30-8 and molasses to using expensive Advanced nutrients or whathaveyou, am i going to see a marked improvement in the quality\yield of my buds. IS IT WORTH IT??? I'm sure this had probably been a topic of numerous threads but i wasnt able to dig anything up with my stoner ambition.

Just sos ya knows i've currently got a 400w mh vegging some purple indica and fucking incredible as well as the unidentified bagseed featured in my first grow that i've been calling spruce zeus. Right next door to that is a brand new 1000w hps which just replaced a 400. any and all input is appreciated.

Thanks and happy growing

First off..Great buds. Now if you ask me, stepping up to some higher end nutes such as the whole 6 piece Fox Farms Package will definitely get you a better yield and a ton more trichomes. I mean what the hell, You've got a great light setup so I say go for it and spend the 140.00 for the Fox set and try em out. I think you'll be happy in the long run. Happy Grows..:joint:

lol, your baking sheet looks like mine. I think we should retire them. I do believe that the nutes are worth the price. I like the Fox Farms too.

Thanks for the input!!!! Anyone else have their two cents to put in? Are FoxFarm Nutes the end all be all of food or are the others essentially the same? I recently read that foxfarm, because of their organic makeup will break down quickly, sometimes while sitting on the shelf at your local growers supply. Also, availability in canada???

TreeDweller79- You can have my cookie sheet when you pry it from my stoned cold hands!!!!

You will get much better results with more expensive nutes. Check you Shultz and MG packages, look at what nutes are in them. Plants need 17 elements to survive, how many of those 17 are in the MG? Not many. But the higher end nutes have more of the micro nutes, beneficial bacteria, etc.

Also, soil is very important. I was using Super Soil from Home Depot with some additives, and when I swtiched to Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil, I noticed a huge difference. They make awesome soil, but their nutes are are not the end all be all as you desribed. I used them for about 2yrs and on my next grow I will be switching to Pure Blend Pro. Not because of my results, just because I want to try something new.

There are lots of good nutes out there. GH FloraNova is a good one part. If you are looking for something more complicated, the FF nutes are a little more complicated to mix. And if you want something that is going to cost $500 for the entire lineup, go with AN. But for $30-$100 you can get a good nute line.

NPK is only the beginning with nutes. These are the 3 macro nutes, but micro nutes are just as important. Lacking one nute will cause another to not be absorbed, and too much of something will cause others to not be absorbed.

In my opinion it would be a good idea to switch up your nutes and try a quality soil.

Thanks for the detailed answer to my question. I'm pretty convinced that its at least worth a try with a "higher end" nute system.

I'm currently using soil i purchased from my local grow shop in a large bale that I was told is nutrient free, and unless i hit the lotto i'll probably ride out the rest of the bag before i purchase another soil.
Cheers and happy growing!

Well I'm glad I could help out. I'm new to this board, but I'm sure you will be seeing me around a lot. CC is so slow I just stopped using it, and this seemed like a good place to join, so here I am.

Just to update, after a month of using Bada-bing badabang bada-Bloom along with Bud-start, Carbo-Blast and the Heavies I must admit that its worth every penny to buy some bud-specific nutes. My vegging plants are vigorous and very hearty and the buds are swelling and producing more resin, earlier than they ever have before. will post pics when my lights come on tomorrow.
