1st florida grow questions w/ pictures

Thanks for the suggestion.. I've been wondering about leds and whether they can actually produce the same results. I'm a stage lighting technician/designer at a theatre and I know that there are salesmen everywhere though just trying to push the product.

My boss just spent $12,000 replacing all our old par(parabolic aluminized reflector) cans with leds. I thought about using stage lights to grow with but they produce tonsssss of heat

yes they are pretty effective ..... they make dense sticky buds , plants eat less under them , but they do sacrifice a bit of yield ...... have you not browsed the copious amounts of info in the led sub-forum ?? buddy up with petflora and you will be schooled in the ways :D
But I know how to make my own led lights from working there... I just wasn't sure if they would be effective.

Nice
Have you ever seen the method of making a led flood light by soldering strips of.self adhesive leds to a posterboard, then using something like a laptop.charger as a power supply. Then you just make a frame from plastic and a tripod out.of pvc

If you use about 10-15 lines of leds and fill up the whole posterboard, it will light up a whole room. You can get the leds from amazon.. it just looks like a roll of tape.

They won't penetrate worth a dang though. You need atleast 3w diodes with angled lenses for good penetration.

ive tried the 1w strips and it was a caca experience i couldnt even veg with them hardly my CFL's blew them away ....... the intensity in the 1 foot range is what your gonna be after and that takes atleast the 3w diodes

Great following, JaneFlorida. Good info. Plants looks great. I got worried reading about thieves or being busted! Sorry about your CF. I agree with tent and filter. Go stealth, if you can! I have a locked 6' cabinet with filter, and even the cabinet is hidden! I mean, what cabinet? Peace.

Thanks :) I've been fortunate to get some really good advice and a wake up call from people much more experienced than I am lol.

CREE , bridgelux are ok IMO
you have to get the right combo of red's to blue's and whites , or could run just whites

you have to have a certain color temp
the indoor growing section has a subforum on led's
if your building them you have to do some reading
if your buying one there are a few good ones on the market in the lower price range ........
but with LED's you get what you pay for
but there are some bigger wattage cob lights that you could put on a heat sink and it would save you the trouble of having to soldier every diode together but they cost a bit more ..... well they really dont considering it has more led's on it already soldiered together
if you dont plan on needing massive harvests
the little 135w UFO ebay chinese lights i use are pretty cheap considering
you could get something like the apollo and it would light up a little cab but you would need some height led's run cool , but the light itself will burn your plants if it gets to close

i have a 6.5 ' book shelf that i cut a hole for the door knob on my closet to fit into and put trim around the back of the shelf so it fits flush over the door trim
and if i have to leave for a few days or have nosey relatives over i move the book shelf in place and you cant even tell theres a closet there
