we have lots of homeless people in my town. we also have lots of people claiming benefits, living rent free and pretending 2 b homeless and earning 40-50 pounds a day begging. have 2 say most r on smack.they r closing the homeless shelter down so that will thin them out. i give them nothing cause thats what they deserve.[well most of em]

In my experience, most homeless people are homeless by choice. Yes some have mental problems, some are actually trying, but most are lazy bums.

My sister offered one bum a hamburger from McDonald's because that is where she was going for her kids. The guy had the nerve to say, "Can you go to Burger King, I don't like McDonald's." Needless to say, he didn't get a BK burger or a McDonald's one.

Interesting thread, I have mixed feelings about homeless people. I live in a town that the average home sells for more than 500,000. And it is hard to imagine homeless people in this "beautiful" city. I mean I guess from the look of it, a town full of rich and well to do people can't be a had town to panhandle in right? And the weather is good all year round, and people can be generous. I just couldn't bring myself to do it, I have pride. But I do find it somewhat ingenius, cuz there is plenty of money in panhandling. If the homeless people didnt have habits, and shit, they would do alright.

I was coming back from a takeout chicken place going home when there was a homeless guy with 2 little girls begging at the steet light. I didn't have spare change so I gave him the bucket of chicken. As I turned into a gas station around the corner I saw him walk over to the side of the street with the 2 little girls and he tossed the chicken in the bushes. I was hungry too. I never give anything to em anymore.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO...I would have been mad as hell. I guess when you have no money you can't appreciate the value of a dollar.

I agree. I couldn't ask anyone for a dime, let alone beg. I have too much pride for that. An extra what 2- 3k of tax free income would be awesome...but I'd rather bust my ass for it, than to stand on a street corner.

I was more worrid about the kids eating than his sorry ass.

Sad thing is the kids probably wanted the chicken. The selfish father was probably just looking for whatever profits he could reap. OR........He could have been a scamer who's kids had already eaten, and just wanted to pickup whatever cash he could.

I loved the guy I saw yesterday... he had a dog with him and had a sign on it that just said "Smile", didn't ask for money or anything, just wanted people to smile. So when I passed I gave him the :peace: sign and he returned the favor with a big smile, maybe it was ... Jesus...! :o
