10x10 "sealed" grow tent vs building sealed rooms; cost/efficiency?

Grow Space:
Good size 2 car garage, well insulated, needs minimal upkeep to finish sealing it (foam a couple cracks by garage car door etc)

I could easily house two 10x10 tents and run the two 4x4s tents I currently have for veg in there. Or I could possibly have two rooms built? I would have to have it built, but 10 x 10 tents are pricey so I'm not sure what the overall cost difference might be. The ability to have a taller room would be nice though as tents aren't the tallest.

If I go with tents I'd want to use A/C hoods for additional growing height. The issue is my garage doesn't have a vent hole, should I have one installed venting to my backyard? Would a vent hole be needed with built rooms too or could I run Adjusta wings with better a/c units??

There also is a third possibility of just sealing my garage well, and running the plants out in the open space of my garage (11.5 ft ceilings would be a dream), but then I think the environment may fluctuate a bit too much as well as make perpetual harvests improbable?

Goals for the space:
(2) bloom rooms to allow for monthly harvests
(4) 1k lights per bloom room
(1) plant per light
(2) 4x4 tents each with (2) vegging plants each to replace the room that is harvested

Overall I'm aiming to get 4lbs/month which I believe should be possible.
This will all be grown in water, DWC style.

u shouldnt use tents. A space that large that u hope to seal u will need to drywall and use filler to seal. No tent is good enough, the zippers alone leak considerably. Just make one room out of half the garage and use it to flower. Veg isnt to worry about, u can just panda film a little area in the rest of the garage.

All right no tents so ignore all the banter in my first post about them everyonee.
So you think it would just be best to build 1 big room and divide it in two to flower in? The reason I want to do a perpetual in rotations of 4 is so I break up the amount of work for one, and second because I need to stay within my plant count. I could always pick up more cards but I'd much rather use less cards so I can keep more meds to smoke myself.

Also the room that I have built, does it need to be legit walls that are studded up or hows that work? Sorry if the questions are pretty basic but i have no real experience with design nor anyone to lean on IRL for assistance. I hear with co2 you should vent out the last couple weeks, would it make much of a difference if i ran co2 the whole flower cycle so I don't have to vent out? Thanks btw!!

Agreed. I hope to see pictures when you decide :)
Oh there will be many!! As well as lots of tests of different beans :leaf:
Unfortunately it'll take a while for me to get the funds as well as have it all constructed an filled with equipment. I'm just trying to get a goal in mind so I can begin building towards it, start getting all the equipment in the garage that kinda thing.

Sounds great just make sure you ventilation system/ air exchange systems work - that's really the only issue with grow tents, do not get me wrong they work great!!! Peace

IMO u dont need two rooms. It is best to just create one room so you dont have to climate control two areas. If you use t5 for veg you dont need anything but some space. This way you can maximize your space and light. If you dnt plan on running co2, and it is 100% unneeded, no need for a completely sealed room and you could even buy a large tent. Sealing in CO2 is the only reason to need a sealed room.

No co2 no need for complete seal. So my advice changes dramatically. It is probably easier, and cheaper, to just buy a large tent rather than drywall a room. With the tent buy a large carbon filter and an 8" vortex fan. From there throw the filter in the top of the tent. The filter will be the start of the ducting. Filter---->Light--->Light--->Fan--->Exhaust outside. This way you filter the smell out, and cool the room and lights at the same time. This is how i set up my large grow years ago and it worked like a dream. Depending on intake temps and number of lights u may need an AC or intake fans.

10x10 tent with magnums xxxl reflectors, would 8k work in there? I think I may just have to do that then. If I can still pull 1lb a light I'll be happy

i had a 5 light setup that i used to routinely pull 8-10 a cycle.
Once dialed in I'm hoping to be able to hit 1.5 a light so doing 6 lights would put me at 9. I suppose I'll need to look into tents then. I'll probably end up going with an agromax or something, thanks for the assistance.

i know this is a bit old but just wondering if you have set up your garden yet??.... i wouldnt worry so much about getting a number of pounds a month and worry more on learning your skills and plants and learnig how to grow fire bud.... then start figuring out what you gotta do to hit say 4 lbs every 2 -3 months.... id say to plan a harvest every 2-3 months rather every month... thats a shit load of work if you think of it ... trimming and drying 4 pounds every month!?'? fuck that!! lol im planning 3 pounds every 2 months....

Ignore the previous posts and lets start anew lol.
So, I built a 12x12x10 flower room and an 8x12x10 veg room.

I still have tents so I'm going to keep using them and do a couple practice rounds in the 8x12 before moving into the 12x12.
Waiting on this round to finish at which point I'll start using the 8x12 room and I'm going to run (4) 600 watt HIDs. Not sure what my goal for a pull on this should be? Probably be satisfied if I ended up with more than two and a half units.

Anyone know what size can fan I should get for a 12x12 flower room that is going to be running 4-6 gavitas? It's going to have to be pretty huge I presume...

10 inch flex duct work is best for ur setup

The question nobody's asked is: how long do you plan on being there?? If you don't see yourself there for more than a couple years, I'd just go tents. That way you're not stuck in the same situation next time you move.

If you're going to be in the current place for a considerable amount of time, it'll probably be worth the investment to build something to fit the space.
