so if you're using the 3000k lights i'm guessing you're already flowering correct? and what wattage are those lights? any pics? if you're in vegetation then u need a higher spectrum of light such as 6500k. and prolly 4 bulbs at least if u have 3 plants. depends on what the wattage of the lights is as well. i actually have 10 lights on those little mofos while i'm flowering. and they're all 3000k or less. so a standard rule would be...

3000k or less for flowering and 5000k or more for vegetation. pics would be helpful but i'm guessin' the lack of light intensity is the main problem. get back to me and i'll be happy to help

not to hijack.. but i just looked and im using 2700 lums during veg.. my lights are on for 18hrs. growth is looking fine.. no signs of flowers yet. they have been running for about 1.5 weeks.

what are the problems i face at this pt? or can i go switch them out to 5000k?

great grow idea! i've been using the tubs myself but w/ just soil. only thing i'm gonna do different is buy clear tubs. i found i can actually see the roots and get a better idea on the moisture. i'm hittin wally-world tomorrow. thanks for sharing :joint:

well at this point you can easily just switch out bulbs. shouldn't be any problems at all. when referring to the k scale it would just be the spectrum of light that you're dealing with. 3000k and lower is better for flowering because it's in the red spectrum. i use 6500k as my primary light during VEGETATION because it's as close as you can get to natural sunlight with cfl's. during FLOWERING i use a couple 120w 5000k as supplemental light and the rest 3000k or 2700k. so again, go for it and switch those lights out, it wont hurt your plants. just remember....
6500k primary for veg. and 3000k-2500k primary for flowering.

FYI just a little image here that should help out showing the spectrum and what kind of bulbs u would be simulating with your CFL's

doobie, i guess that the clear tubs would work out. i mean i've seen seeds pop from paper towels in a ziploc baggy so i don't guess it would hurt. i've just found that they germinate and grow roots better when they're warm, dark and moist. but please let us know how that goes. quite interested, never thought about that.

buddman, do u have an oscillating fan moving any air? stems look a bit thin, if u don't have one i'd suggest it. strengthens the stems and make thicken up. i'll post some pics friday evening when i get home of some clones i took about... 2 weeks ago so u can compare.

yeah i'd say so, 4 to 6 weeks veg then throw em into flowering and they'll double size. whenever i veg i run my lights 24 hours a day. some people only run 18/6, but i've had plenty of success with light on em all the time.
