Soil Vs Hydro

All I can say is I have a method that works well for my style & water is literally the only think I add. And the results are more than satisfactory for me.
Perhaps if I required more quantity I might look into hydro, but for now I'm very happy.

yeh folk can make their soil or hydro grow as complex as they like
some folk can even be happy growing in miracle grow soil lol
i know many hydro growers are guilty of wasting money on useless additives etc
and have huge lists too
its perhaps maybe more of a personality trait, someone that would waste all that money on useless hydro products
would most likely have a complex soil regime too if they were soil growers
i like to keep things as simple as possible, over the years i have removed what is unnecessary
rather than trying to add things to the system

Someone (especially a child) with ANY KIND of auto immune disorder or disease is HIGHLY susceptible to infection. Most minor infections that would normally not affect someone with a regular immune system function would run rampant through someone with an auto immune disorder.... Think your soils clean? Next time you have an open cut or wound, or even a rash, go get a handful of soil and rub it on the affected area, then see what happens to a "regular" person when presented with foreign bacteria.... This is the basic every day scenario with a 9 year old boy (rubbing dirt everywhere!), now imagine that you've been on steroids for 2 years to COMPLETELY disable your immune system, How long do you think that infection will last? Even minor infections in someone with an immune disorder can be fatal, HIV leads to an auto immune disorder, and as we all should know from high school science, its not HIV that will kill you but the auto immune disorder associated with it that will lead to your demise....
I tend to agree with you here bro - I am always really concerned when handling Guano - that shit comes from a cave full of flying rats & bugs-a-mundo.

excluding genetics or grower/environment differences what % do you think could be down to things like nutes, microbes and even the type of lighting contributing to flavour and potency
95% genetics, 5% these other things. or maybe more ?

Skunk, really interesting question. Many years ago I ran through ICMag asking about Molasses and sulfur as flavor enhancers. The jury was sure out on that one. Serious growers were divided. I was surprised.
Now these great discussions about companion molecules. Makes sense. You shouldn't eat grapefruit with prescriptions as it can enhance the effect. So seems clear that it's certainly possible to influence the buzz beyond pure THC%.
There's a lot of talk about using LED and Plasma supplement even with HPS to make dank bud. I've always felt that UV-b helps and I use a reptile lamp.
So I guess I wouldn't be surprised (opinion time) if the nuance of the buzz as well as the severity might / could possibly differ by 20% beyond genetics?

quite a few hydro growers also believe that if they do not add a certain product their buds will not be as good
or they will imo exaggerate the level of improvement from the added item(s)
it seems many folk are looking for some kind of edge, so they can believe their weed is better
in order to do this they need to add something extra
i find it hard sometimes to distinguish weather they are deluded, or scientists conducting very important research on that mystery 5%

the truth is outdoor guys have all the fun but indoor can brag for years like my budies that send me pics on the phone at the bahamas or on their boats i say out door guys have all the fun while i get raves and crazzy good treatment it doesnt pay me my bills lolz pic one i think a big grow outdoor make the coin in the end.. i have no argument any more i dont care any more i will have to do both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats a good word for it "tweak"
it is fun to tweak, but these little tweaks are only that
convincing ourselves our efforts improve things far more than they really have
and in many cases it would of been better left alone
folk do become obsessed with these tweaks
when the biggest overall difference is to just grow different genetics, as many as possible, keep the diversity as high as possible to stand a better chance of finding what you like
