Butterfly Monsters

I'm thinking about hiring a bug catcher for future grows or planting some berries to get birds to come and hopefully deter them butterflies from getting any where close to my girls.

I see them flying around and I chase the fuck out of them. They always leave towards the side yard like they already know the trail.

Besides nuking my girls, what preventative measures can I take against these horrible beast?

Exactly why are you concerned about the butterflies?

Are there other grows around you that might have males? ( the wind will distribute pollen more than butterflies )

Are you just a butterfly hater?

I always liked the band name "Iron Butterfly".

The butterfly's and moths lay eggs on the buds and the larvae can cause a lot of havoc. I just got done pulling moth worm larvae and poop out of the buds. When i know they are already infesting I rotate spraying Monteray Garden Spinosad and BT every three or four days. I check all the buds as often as possible. Look for brown mush in the buds, open it up, extract the brown poopie stuff and the worm will be in there as well. Smash the worm between your fingers and then keep vigilantly looking for more brown. Sometimes i spot a dying leaf and look closer to find its more worm damage.

Pretty much summed up with the dying leaf. But yes, butterfly hater. Grade AAA. I'm guessing your grow hasn't been visited by the butterfly/moths yet. Cross them fingers GLM.

Nope, never had ( or heard ) of that problem but always good to know. I guess like a pretty woman a pretty butterfly can fuck up your shit in a heartbeat. Damn.

Wont do you much good now. But for next year, look into buying praying mantis eggs. I think you can get a bundle of 100-200 eggs for under $20. They also stay close to birth spot for mating purposes. These are clutch if you have bug problems...

its mostly the moths that are bad on cannabis...like the bud worms from a moth species..and the cabbage moth..a few others...do not know of any butterfly species that have a bad rep on cannabis....

I've pried so many off it's not even funny. I'm lucky my colas are real dense. They have a hard time getting in there before they make serious damage.

Mantis will take care of all that shit. Find out when the butterflies/moths lay their eggs. Might use a screen net to cover for a week or so...

They are good for summer, but not fall, Praying mantis cannot survive in the cold. I usually see them until mid September and then they succumb to cold. Further more, the Mantis is no help when it comes to bud worms. The worms are burrowed into the bud and stem, far out of reach for the mantis to do any good...

How do the bud worms get there to begin with? Im going to assume by the moths and butterflies during the summer right? Same time your mantis army would be hanging out?? So indeed, I think they would be very beneficial in terms of "preventative measures".No moths and butterflies = no bud worms or larva in your buds .... October 3rd. And where I'm at in Florida it still hits 80s during the day and 70s at night. Not sure if location and temps were mentioned, but I was simply providing general info/help. If it applies to the reader cool. If it doesn't, I'm sure the info will be read by someone who it does apply to...but to merely correct me as if we all live in the same area, under the same conditions was odd...

Not fond of snakes mind you, found this little bugger outside in my rose bushes about 3 or 4 feet of the ground. The girls were very near, so he/she was probably helping keep the slugs away.....I hope

Kinda dumb but I remember singing "One eyed spitting zipper fish" to the theme of Purple People Eater, lmao....:peace:
