hey was wondering if anyone could help me out here, was thinking of purchasing some herbs off good friend of mine, its potent stuff but he has to get rid of it cause its wet, he said he could do 4.90 a g n i could try to dry it or something, was wonderin how much weight i could loose on a oz cause its pretty wet, and he had it in freezer for few weeks so how mucj potency could that kill?

yeah i was thinking kf offering less, but yes if dried out they should cure good with no mold in a clean enviroment but they could also mold which would suck..

You could always water cure them. It's not the best taste or look but it's better than losing it all to mold.
I'm also curious about frozen then thawed out bud curing properly.
Do you know if frozen wet buds can still cure out? Just curious. And if I were the OP I would pay a lot less if they don't.

At almost 5 bucks a gram wet by the time you do all the work to dry and cure you'll end up paying street prices, 15-20 a gram after it loses it's moisture weight. That $5 gram when dry will weigh about 0.3. Then it'll take 3 or 4 of those 0.3's to make a gram.

Is this your only connect?

Hmm... fresh cuts quick trimmed buds right off the stem loose around 70 to 80% of weight.. DId he dry it a little bit before he freezed it?

80% loss 28.3(.2)= 5.6 Grams.. so ~5 to 6 grams final weight from a wet oz.

If I were you I would get the lowest price possible because its not finished. With that much loss I wouldn't pay more than 2-3 dollars a wet trimmed gram.

Freezing the bud will actually dry it out a little bit as the moisture in the wet buds is pulled into the dry air of the freezer. Of course, it will then probably condense and crystallize back onto the outside, but still. You can actually freeze dry/cure buds by putting them in with dry ice, the dry ice will pull out the moisture in the buds via sublimation, but since there is no liquid stage it will just evaporate rather than re-condensing. (An article about it can be found here) http://cannabis.com/growing/curing-how-do-i-re-moisten-dry-buds.html)

Freezing wet buds causes ice crystals that burst trichome heads resulting in rapid degradation.
I'm not sure that this is quite true however, as the actual trichome heads themselves do not contain water that would expand and cause this kind of damage. I understand the principal, froze oranges in middle school to observe the same reaction with the little pockets of juice that make up the inside of the orange, and freezing meat tenderizes it for the same reason. However, I have stored pot in the freezer for years without a problem. Granted the pot I stored has always been "dry" (Although there will always be some moisture unless the buds powder when squeezed), but that shouldn't change anything as it is the plant matter that holds the water and not the trichome heads. As for degradation, the cold will actually prevent degradation until you get them back to room temp, so they are probably more potent than if they had been dried and cure amateurishly. Just my $0.02

Why, if he's having to sell the weed quick because its all wet, did he then keep it in a freezer for a few weeks?? Why not use that few weeks to dry properly & start curing??

In strict dealing terms it sounds like got stitched on buying wet weed, then realised how much weight he'd lose (up to 75% is possible) if he did dry it, so decided to keep it frozen and sell it on like that. Pass the pain down the chain!

And if it turns out he isn't being a crafty dealer, then it is him being an idiotic dealer for sure. Either way sounds like more chance of being a time & money waster to me dude!

My bad bugeye, meant to quote the OP.
Well still a good question! Saw another post tonight about someone freezing wet buds to get spider mites off.

Seems to me if you rupture cell structures that a cure may not be possible, but I really don't know. I tried that dry ice cure once but probably did it wrong, didn't get anything special from it.
