So one of the dispensaries I work with got a couple sample cans of this stuff called Puretane, the rep. said it is n-butane in a can. So the shop gave them to me and they gave me 2 ounces of their Super Lemon Haze. I took them home and began the process of prepping them. I did my usual song and dance weight, grind, weight, pack tube, place in freezer. (weight changes when you grind). I did this for both ounces and the weights came out the same 28.0 to 27.9 then froze for 24 hours.
Next day I get my hot bath ready, the pyrex warmed up and I decided to do the Puretane first. Now with n-butane there is no propane in the can to help propel the butane out, so I prepped a second warm water bath at 80F and set the 2 cans in it waited 30 to 45 seconds for the first can to warm up a little and I went at it. Warming up the can worked amazingly, it just gets the can warm enough to where the butane does not want to be in there it wants to be in my tube that is -70 to -80. I ran both cans and it did take longer to exhaust both cans compared to the Power 5X, but with the warm water bath only by a minute to a minute and a half.
After the blast I noticed it takes a little longer to evaporate off and it seemed to take longer in the chamber. I was not able to put them in the camber side by side, which is the only different besides the type of butane used. after the muffins had popped and the purge was done I was left with some very nice looking oil, but it was a shade darker then the stuff blasted from the Power 5X, the weights differed by .08. The one that weighed more was blasted into a dish that is con-caved so the oil stays in the middle and doesn't spread to the corners on small runs, the one that weighted .08 less had some oil left in the corner that could not be retrieved
final weight was:
Puretane- 7.40 - 26.52%
Power 5X- 7.48 - 26.88%
Thanks to A Wellness Center in Colorado Springs for providing me with the excellent flower to blast and the experimental cans to try out
The strain was Super Lemon Haze, very very stinky stuff
