Calling Mr. Sunshine

I posted in Outdoor Grow (http://rollitup.org/t/how-long-do-you-veg-before-planting-outdoors.847578/) and asked about which strain I should grow if I live in a state that is hot 12 months a year. Not one person picked up on it. I think Auto's are the answer but I'm not sure. Now I'm supposed to read up on growing basics during the "winter" and be ready to grow in the summer. Every day is summer here for as long as I will be alive. If it is 85 degrees and 70 percent humidity everyday I think that is equatorial conditions.

It doesnt matter so much about the temps as it does the amount of hours of daylight you receive each day tbh

anything more than 12hrs light a day--plant will veg
12 hrs or less of light a day ----plant will flower

I asked for Mr. Sunshine because he is the one guy I trust. Most of the people either didn't read my post, couldn't understand what I was saying, or both. I'm trying to grow outside. The Hawaii thread from 2008 was somewhat helpful. I did get some good advice along the way and for that I say "thank you."

I keep seeing people say this and I feel obligated to respond every time. This is NOT true when it comes to outdoor plants. If that were true than you couldn't grow weed in 99% of all climates. Outdoors, the only things that matter are the summer and winter solstices. Plants will veg as long as the days are getting longer, and they will flower as long as they are getting shorter. Outdoor plants don't pay attention to 12/12, that is something that applies exclusively to indoor plants.

great reply Ace...I have a question hopefully you can answer..

what if you have a plant under 18 hours veg indoors and you decide to stick it outside for the start of spring (13 hours light...days getting longer) ...will it continue to veg no problem or will it turn straight to flower?

cheers

It could keep vegging, but it also may begin to flower with the sudden change to a shorter light cycle, and then possibly even re-veg after that once it realizes that days are getting longer. I think it would depend on the strain and a bit of luck as to which of the three outcomes you get. Personally, I had a couple plants that I started indoors under 18/6, and I put them out when there were about 14 hours of daylight, and they flowered on the same cycle as the ones that were outdoors from sprout, but my area wasn't light proof at the time since I was supplementing them with extra light on the windowsill.

if u wanna no what strain to grow well really any will do as i live were its hot all day ever day 365 days a year coldest it gets here is 26 c at night lol day light is important tho u can get away with flower at about 14 --15 hours of light outdoors as mine start to flower round jan hotest part of the month with the longest light period at 16 hours of light a day but fill out as the months go and the light time gets shorter but as for 12\12 outdoors u are only gunna get about 3-5 weeks max it is outdoors ofc

my mom made a comment about someone's outdoor grow that she could see from the hotel she was staying in when she called me to let me know her plane made it ....
i would think sativa's would be the way to go IMO but this time of year you would have to keep a cfl or 2 on at night if you want them to veg
