I have been using ro for my grow but was curious if well water was g
OK
My water is very hard 77 grains and has iron in it
It dosent have anything bad in it

What is the TDS? Remember that every dissolved solid in your water is a salt, too much salt isn't good for plants.

If I was pulling from a well I'd run a softener followed by by an RO filter, but I'd never pull water directly from a softener; all dissolved solids are salts in the eyes of your plants, some are worse than others though.

As i believe it, the big worry is if your water has too much calcium in it, those ions will lockout whatever magnesium is available.

I'm not sure if supplementing magnesium (epsom salts) to bring it back to an appropriate ratio will rectify the problem... Have you googled this? I remember there being a ton of info out there, just can't recall the specifics.

77 gpg is roughly 1316 ppm...........

Are you sure that’s correct? Whats your health department think about that?

I use rain water, mix it with my hard municipal water to raise the ph and i never have to give cal/mag.70% rain 30% tap which is around 600 ppm.works really well for me.

If you have high calcium to begin with I'm pretty sure cal-mag would not be a good thing. My well water is around .2 ec with bery high levels of calcium, every strain I have grown has had a mag. issue.
