If you have to be looking for work in order to be unemployed than nobody would be unemployed because there are new jobs everywhere.

I would love a minimum wage hike. Places like Walmart would too. Put local business out of business. Chinese is a pretty cool language. When all business moves out of America. Our debts still need payments. We still got good land. There's plenty of fresh water from Canada. Life's wonderful. Only bad thing is Chinese movies suck and they hate religion. Especially self esteem managing ones like Buddhism. Oh well. Can't have everything.

raising minimum wage will not put local businesses out of business.

i have been asking them for months to name a single business that ever went under due to a raise in minimum wage.

they have never given a single example.

but the rabbit is now saying the minimum wage hike will mean china takes us over, so at least they are stepping up the retarded rhetoric. that's always a good idea when they have no evidence to support their views.

Correct, businesses will and must raise prices to account for the increased expenses, but as the price goes up, so does governments slice. So in the end, raising wages without a equal compensation in reduced expenses, will actually make people just a bit poorer, because the government slice is based on a percentage.

Now you know why raising the min wage never helps in the long run, if people unionized and went on strike, maybe they could get more recompense, but the rules are made by those with the money, not the little guy begging for scraps. Its the golden rule, those with the gold make the rules.

Chicken of the Sea, the tuna company, announced this month that it will close its canning plant in American Samoa in September. The culprit is 2007 legislation in Washington that gradually increased the islands’ minimum wage until it reaches $7.25 an hour in July 2009, almost double the 2007 levels.

From an actual high ranking economist with an actual name and impressive resume.

that's not what the BLS numbers say. we've debunked this lie of yours in the past, shall we debunk it again?

You made tuna noodle casserole 3 days ago, and you just now got the tuna? That's kind of dumb.
by the way, chicken of the sea did not go under or shut its doors, they moved operations to georgia where the min wage was the same or higher as the one they were adopting in samoa.

and the "economist" you named is nothing but a shill for a right wing think tank, and the link to chickn of the sea's announcement is broken, meaning you have cited absolutely nothing but the words of an obvious partisan hack.

Actually, the link worked perfectly for me.
