The doctors must have 'carte blanche' regarding what they can charge and of course the unscrupulous ones will be predatory in nature. Some can't recall who Hippocrates was nor remember the Oath that they took. I paid $15.00 to have the forms filled out and $18.00 to priority post it to the LP...... Then the gouging began.....lol
I paid the doc zero and mailed it for 10 bucks to HC. And told them to hurry the fuck up or I'll come down there and show off my moobs

So i talked to a lady from the do no harm clinic today
And she said it the doctors board. They make it difficult and expensive to shake off the people that as she put it "arent serious or really in need"
The doctor is going against the board and therefore prices and fees are higher.

So instead of the black market dealers jacking up prices and controlling the market now we get the doctors jacking fees and shit to get you ready for the lps that are about to rape you.

I think im going to do it so that its one more piece of paper to bring to court.
I will just keep refilling my own script lol

prices are rock bottom
I first oz i ever bought cost me $40
I assure you prices are not at rock bottom. They may be lower than five yrs ago but they are no where near rock bottom.

The average lp charges 8-15 a gram depending on the hype of the name and thc content. Thats exactly the same price as an average street dealer downtown, except he doesnt ask for a semen sample or for you to walk away feeling like he did u a favour.

That's such bullshit its not even funny....I might not be having the smoothest go with my MMPR run because my doc screwed up the form BUT there was no money involved. I've never paid to see a doc for anything else, let alone to get a script that's just wrong, its not like 100 bucks if going to cover their ass from the college of physicians.

But unfortunately, this is the position our beloved government has put patients and doctors into. As long as everyone except patients are benefitting, it's all good. This is why it isn't considered like every other drug...more like getting a drivers medical that you got to pay for.

I believe you can take your time to make a decision regarding the MMPR program. At the moment, you can count on your fingers the number of LPs currently registering new patients or have a waiting list. Good luck on your search for proper medicine. My wife is also holding on her medical documents until a reliable/loyal LP shows up in this broken program.

The average street dealer charges the same rates.
Thats how lps set their prices.its a supply and demand system. Now the better question is how do the lps know the going rates etc..
Their are a few lps that are taking new patients.
The toronto compassion club told me that i could send them my documents and become a member and just walk in and buy but they are supposedly straddling a grey line.

Unfortunately pot has been talked about for decades when it comes to the financial side.i.e. how many millions the government can make on tax. And not how it can help people even poor ones. Just like everything else in life its just a giant cash cow

I don't think the LPs set their prices based on the BM going rate.

Pretty sure they set the price based on the old system, they also have it set up to increase in price year over year to where folks are paying more then street value in a few years.

At least that's what I had read. Cannabis Culture is a good Canadian site for medical info.

Prohibition is to blame
I agree 100%
Its risky and expensive to grow and that costs money.
Theres no way to argue whether or not the lps set their prices off the black market but i think we can all agree its too expensive.

The only people saying its not expensive are the ones selling it.

trying to make light of how people figure out what to charge is all.
What aspects in the market do you guys figure is directly and inversely proportional to price volatility?
:)

I don't ever expect to see 1$/g like everyone is saying.. But I think in the 3-4$ range is where things will end up at. If the lps stay too high then everyone will stay BM whether they grow their own or buy from a compassion club or whatever.

This dollar a gram talk is getting old real quick. Yes, to pay one person to grow under 10 lights it's super cheap. To pay 5-6 growers, 4-5 customer service reps... QA, maintenance, lights, nutes, power, hydro, rent /cost of the building itself. Lawyer fees, start up... I'm no expert but I'm sure there's stuff I missed.

This system is not built to sell for a dollar a gram. That's why alot of the little guys aren't making it.

Does it suck and is it totally fucking unreasonable that this is happening? Damn right.

But let's not hate on each other because our government fucked up.

I think pricing would be a completely different discussion if people had the right to grow even a few plants. The LP needs to charge more than a bm grower as running a business has expenses, but the profit they demand is still over the top. Give patients the option of growing or buying and watch the LP $/g plummet as they actually have to attract customers instead of having a captive market. It all comes down to supply and demand.
So to answer the question, I think the single biggest factor in price volatility is the continuing archaic prohibition and the confusion surrounding our existing laws, both medical and recreational.

Where's this dollar a gram coming from? first I've heard of it, the way they laid it out the price was going up annually not down, it was starting low and in a few years it was going to be over $10 a gram. That had people flipping their shit at the time.

The little guys aren't making it because they can't even start legally. No one has 700-800k to grow pot legally, not anyone I would want growing for me anyways. Right now it's organized crime and big business getting into Canadian Cannabis and it's not being done for the right reasons, which is evident by all the mold reports and reports of just shit quality herb.
