The article never said that was why they spent less time though. I think it would be speculation at best. It is also wrong to assume all poor people work 2 or 3 jobs, the fact remains that a majority of poor people don't work at all. According to the US department of Labor, 10 million people who are considered poor are working. According to the Census Bureau 40 million people in the US are poor. That means only 25% of poor people work any job at all.

If time at work was taking away from time spent with kids, this evidence kind of turns that idea on its head doesn't it? This evidence seems to point out that poor people have an abundance of time to spend with their children, but choose not to.

The point of this thread and many others I post is to illustrate the extreme difference economic classes face in this country. That's it. Many conservatives are in complete denial about this fact and believe everybody gets a fair shot and equal opportunity in the land of the free, which lead to some of their fucked up views on politics, religion, poverty and economic inequality.

I would improve K-12 education, make it easier for lower classes of people to get secondary education, enact a 28th amendment to the constitution to get money out of politics and kick campaign finance reform into overdrive

by the way, my dad grew up in a working class suburb of Philly in a family of 8. After his dad died, he dropped out of school and began working to help his family...never went to college either
