Wiring Question

Id rather lose a fan than interupt my light cycle, different outlet on a separate circuit for fans, so a heavy extension cord depending on amount of fans and amp draw, Or wire in new circuit, more $$$

Blueprint Master Digital Timer, BMDT-1 Or something similar. Consolidates common timer functions and has high temp shutoff.

Thanks! Not particularly cheap solutions, but my fan is aging and I've screwed up the heat once before.

you could get a new fan but if you still want protection, you could use a line voltage thermostat to trigger a shunt trip breaker that feeds the lights.

The fan I have is fine now, but it's aging, and I'm worried about the time between its failure and the time I shut off the lights. I work, and I worry about the ten hours when I'm away. I've split the two--light and fan--between two circuits, but one time the fan's fuse blew and the light's didn't. Nearly ruined my crop. I've since kept them on the same circuit, but I don't want a repeat. I like the idea of the CAP HLC-3e.

The HLC-3e WAS good. It has a blinking light, that would let you know that there was a shutdown. Which was cool;-)
Unfortunately, CAP went out of business. On their way out of business, they were building defective SHIT. The HLC's ended up having a mind of their own. Fuck those things. I would not buy any CAP product, period!

They don't have a blinking light. I don't know of any others that do.(besides the hlc-3e)

And oh yeah, how many lights you trying this with? Because naturally these devices are only rated to 15amps. I plug my trigger cable from contactor into switch, than switch into timer.

The titan zephyr 2 looks like the ticket. I run a 400w MH in veg then switch to a 600w HPS. 15amps should be plenty. Thanks for the tip.

Say, if you're still around. Am I alright plugging the Zephyr 2 into a power strip? I'm short outlets.
