Overall law enforcement jobs are increasing. The only areas that have seen decreases are areas with economic instability (Flint/Pontiac but they got block grants for additional troopers/county), even Detroit is hiring police officers
That's odd, isn't it? I mean, with a perceived drop in violent crime, you'd assume no need for more cops. Do they know something we don't? :eyesmoke:

When I say 'we', I mean...well.......:eyesmoke:

After many years in the concrete and asphalt - which I loved - and a late detour in the real 'sticks', I purchased the Ponderosa just a few years ago. At the time, it had nothing to do with 'hiding in the woods', but I'll tell you now, that unforeseen benefit is a sweet bonus. I can make the city in less than half an hour, for whatever Amazon can't send out. Lots of room to store lots of guns [perhaps?] and viddles [ how we talk in the 'sticks'] amongst a full cabinet of jarred buds, so one trip a month would be enough outside of social occasions. Schweeeeeet !
I'd like to get out of the hustle bustle myself. I'm about a half hour from Detroit. Just a bit too close for my liking at this point. It would be nice to have some land with no neighbors on top of me.

A bit of solitude would be nice

38%?? A call BS
Please stay on point. j/k.

I'm 20 minutes from Dearborn. Largest concentration of Muslims in the western world.

You'd absolutely love it there. :bigjoint:
LOL !!

OK, amigos....time to lighten the mood even more. I urge whoever has been following along, to:

1. smoke some really, good pot, high sativa blend, and get your your good mood on, then...

2. watch and listen to "the Doctor of Common Sense".

This guy has some of the best one-liners w/o any intent of being comical. And where we've conversed earnestly to find no solutions [except 'every man for himself'], E T [ the Doctor ] summarizes the problem, and gives us all the ultimate answer !

And now.......the "Doctor of Common Sense"! Enjoy !! bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

I love Dearborn, have had friends and family live there for years. If anything Detroit brings more problems to Dearborn than Dearborn itself. And Detroit has problems due to poverty.

That one percent you speak of is reclassification of what constitutes a violent crime. I take issue with how crimes are recorded and measured, but at the end of the day it is still an accurate statistic to go by. 1 % would also be within the margin of error in statistics, but nonetheless rape has become a classification within violent crime when in the past it was a separate issue. Statistics are still kept on rape but prior to 2012 I want to say it wasn't part of the classification of violent

Honestly it's a great community. You shouldn't knock something you know little about and haven't visited. Why form an uneducated opinion?

While I'm no fan of suburbs, you live in a very safe area statistically, with good schools. I looked up the numbers and was surprised some of the neighboring cities which are higher income had slightly higher crime rates (overall, not violent mind you but property crime).

Heh! Interesting.

I haven't looked up his claims (90% of Muslims in Dearborn are on social assistance), but I find that hard to believe. I wonder if he's aware of the stats for his brothers and sisters in the city that borders Dearborn to the East? 90% of Detroits residents are black. 50%+ of them are unemployed, and the vast majority, whether employed or not, are collecting either food stamps, welfare, social security, section 8 housing, or all of the above.

Just found it ironic that a black man is bitching about a class of people abusing the system.

There are self hating black people.

What people should be bitching about is poverty, and that by percentage of population, white people get more in "welfare" than any other group

Welfare for individuals, in any form, isn't a huge issue to me. Just found his rant a little ironic.

The more troubling issue for me is corporate welfare, and the ridiculous disparity in wages between blue collar and white collar. HALF of the nation lives under the poverty line or is considered "low income". In the past 30 years middle class incomes have risen 35%, while the top 1% has seen their incomes rise almost 300%. Add to this all of the tax breaks, loopholes, etc that are enjoyed by corporations and it's easy to see why we have a problem.

Bill cosby lol.
There is a small portion of black people that dont harbor the mentality that the sysem is rigged against them. 50 years ago I would have been likely to agree that most people dont wanna see a successful black person. But any thing that is keeping them down at this point is old white people clinging to their ways, and they are dieing off so it wont be long before people are not able to blame their problems on whitey because old white racist wont decide who makes it to the top.

Completely agree with you. Corporate welfare takes up far too much in the form of no bid contracts, change orders, tax breaks (which I'm not inherently against but just look at billonaires with "farms" getting a break), and general low fiscal oversight.

You should hear rick scott's reply to why he thinks he shouldn't mess with minimum wage. Its kinda ridiculous. It seems most republicans think 7.25 is a living wage.. really its just driving people onto the gov't dime.

Exactly! Why are tax payers subsidizing businesses because they refuse to pay fair wages? These are hard working folks who deserve to have dignity in pay, and not have to rely on government assistance to pick up the slack of business failures.

Thats the nice thing about where I work now. Get a fair wage and the owner is doing other little shit to let you know he appreciates the effort. Shit a month ago I got to go see a badger game for free! Great tickets too and they beat the piss out of bowling green.

Why make the assumption? Post where I knocked Dearborn.

I've often wondered about your ethnicity, and especially now, as you generally rip on whites, or at least, that's my impression. Care to share?

Is it your opinion, that the Doc should be in 'lockstep' with his race?
