My 6yr Old Wants to Grow.

Do you think I should let her?

i would suggest starting with basil, tomatoes, some flowers, thans he can pick them and reap the benefits of reward by eating as well.

she can grow her own little veggie patch make salads (with parental supervision)

its going to look REALLY REALLY REALLY bad on you if shes ever caught you may think she knows not to tell anyone
but dont be surprised when she tells her "bestest friend in the world" thats what kids do they make mistakes, break confidentiality because they are kids. they havent understood or grasped the concept of it yet

Ok guys and gals, thanks for all the responses and opinions. I've not commented in this thread for a few days because I asked for advice and opinions and didn't want to come off like I was debating or discussing, I just sat back and listened.

Here's what I'm gonna do, she wants to grow because she wants to help people, sick people. She is already an excellent veggie grower so now she's gonna move on to flowers, flowers with a purpose besides looking pretty. I'm gonna get her the tent and everything needed to grow. She's gonna start growing sunflowers and other things we haven't decided on yet. My wife is a pediatrician and has to make rounds at the hospital. When her flowers are ready she will go with her mom to the hospital and give her floweres to sick children to brighten their room and make them feel better. She also wants to grow some smaller flowers for her mom to keep at her office to be passed out to her patients instead of sugar-free candy at the end of the visit.

I steered her away from growing cannabis and suggested growing flowers or veggies indoors in her own tent. She came up with the idea of using the flowers to give to sick people all on her own. I am a proud father. I'm also very lucky to have a child that is so concerned with the well being and happiness of others.

So far we know for sure she wants to do sunflowers but we don't know what else yet. Anybody have any suggestions as to what else she should grow? Looks like we have some research to do together. As we learn together we also get to spend more time together. Good stuff.

Again, thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread, it is much appreciated.

PS. She is still gonna help me with my plants. I guess we'll trade labor, lol.

That seems like a reasonable compromise in the circumstance....not totally excluding her from helping you is like the bonus part no doubt.

lavender is great for sick people its truly calming scent and grows beautifully it can also be made into herb oils to help a number of medical conditions naturally..
