what do yall think about an LED for a...
48"x48"x80" tent holding 4x plants 3'-4' tall at harvest.
Four Area-51 RW-75s. You said you prefer a single fixture, but you get more coverage with four smaller fixtures, and less disruption when a fixture fails.

So do you run the a51 at full power or just at the veg only? Im only doing 4 plants.
I start any seedlings, or clones, under it off at partial power. Once the plants are 2-3 weeks old, and getting bigger, I put it up to full power. My XGS covered 9 plants, in three gallon containers, inside of a 3x3 tent.

Did you make a typo, sir? You've been around here long enough to know that it would take four RW-150's to cover a 4x4 properly.

I thought they were rated for around 24x24 area (especially with the added coverage of four fixtures). Four 150s would be 38w/sq ft, which sounds high for effcient LEDs. People have to do 38w/sq ft. with Chinese imports.

But, I don't have four RW-75s, so I can't say how it would work. I thought I'd seen that suggested in the past.

They may be advertised to cover a 24"x24" space, but the op asked about replacing a 1000W, which four RW-75's can't do.

so in dirt volume i could do 3 id have a few more gallons and 1/3rd the plants. (I know i said 4 earlier just dawned on me that 3 is my legal limit lol)

Awesome find, I am going to to assume you mean the 3070-0000-00N00Z450F. Those are 5000k 80CRI bottom bin chips, and though alot people here are flowering with cxa3070's, most are doing it with 3000k chips or a mixture of both. I would love those Z4 5000k for veg, but IMO your going to need to add some red as they would be too blue for flowering alone.

I would just throw them in the garbage, may I suggest the dumpster out back of my building.
Say i had a tent with 2x 3000k and 1x 5000k. How many plants on average would i be able to grow from that without the plants becoming deficient of energy. Also i heard to add a warm red bulb for flowering http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151448833915(would this be suitable?). what is a good cheap option to add it on to my setup? Im thinking just a small tent .80cmx.80cmx160cm. I don't plan to grow too much but id like to grow a small amount of quality plants.. :This is all new to me so any advice would help

@rockett899

What current are you driving them at? I would think for that tent you would need 2 more 3000k minimum, driven from 1050-1400mA. I would hang the 5000k in the middle and the 4x 3000k surrounding it like so.

As for how many plants, I never really get that question. That all depends on what style and strain(s) you grow. If you're doing a SCROG you can easily fill that space with 1 plant in a waterfarm with very little veg or you could do a 36 party cup SOG. Really just add some more light when you can afford it and pack that tent with as many plants as you can fit.

Need an LED light to cover a 2'x3'x7' area I plan to use for seeds, clones and storing a mother possibly.

Are there any light bulb type LED I can use to cover my 16" clone box?

I also have some jiffy trays to start seeds which are about 1.5ft long and half foot wide. I would want to stack 2 or 3 layers of these to maximize space so long skinny LED fixtures would be best for my situation.

Thanks for help

I met a guy who makes led fixtures. What spectrum should I ask him to make the mixture of? I can choose any blend I would like. I'm not sure how many leds he will build onto th fixture or how many watts it will be, for now i would just like to know the best spectrums to tell him to use. Thank you

Before you open that big ol' can of worms about spectrum around here, it's best to start with some basic info like what brand and model of LED will your builder be using? No point in trying to figure out a good spectrum without seeing if the LEDs used are capable of growing weed. And will he be using passive or active cooling? Don't mean shit if it runs too hot. Monos or whites or a mix of LEDs? Stuff like that.is good to know before you get into spectral shit.

I know the leds and other components will not be the best, but for the overall investment on my part it's worth a go.

He makes full spectrum led lights and fixtures for aquariums If that helps?

So it seems like the only led recommended is from ONE company? Really? Or build it yourself? And then to recommend something that is preorder. I expected more from the "dedicated" led growers...

Keys I would try to avoid going that route if I were you and as a matter of fact there is no written in stone spectrum atm, it really comes down to more blue for vegging and more red for flower. Since this person can build lights why don't you buy the makings of some DIY COBs and have him put them together for you? COBs have larger, rounder peaks in the red and blue spectrums plus they have additional spectrums and marijuana really flourishes when it's not just red and blues. Plus whites need to be very efficient to work properly and budget/mystery whites really don't fit the bill here. Hope that makes some sense to you. Good Luck.

I approached this similarly as you. I had an Apollo 4 made with custom spectrum to mimic Grow Northern's "Rebel module." For $150 (free shipping) it grew well. However, for another $50 an Area 51 would have been a much better choice. But, I'm cynical and would have never accepted that conclusion without trying it myself. And, $150 isn't a lot to spend. I ended up with a light I can use as a backup, etc. Not a huge mistake by any means.

This is Grow Northern's Rebel spectrum:

2x IR 715-745
18x deep red 650-670
4x blue 440-460
White avg 4233
- 2x white 2700k
- 4x white 5000k

Blackstar v2 UV 180w:

36x deep red 660
16x red 630
4x blue 425
4x white: 12000k

Blackstar 135w UFO:

3x IR 730
18x deep red 660
17x red 630
5x blue 425
1x white 12000k
1x UV 380

If I were you, I'd try to recreate a blurple light light those. I wouldn't try to do a mostly-white light like Onyx or A51 because there's a lot of variation in white LEDs.

There is the AT600 by Apache Tech, sorry, I forgot you wanted a single light.
thanks for continuing to help with my questions! :P
So I looked into both of these options,
the at600 i found for 2600$
the a51- rw150 i found for 400$(x4) 1600$

then I found a Mars II 1600w LED for 600$
http://www.mars-hydro.com/mars-ii-led-grow-light-1600w-88.html

this light on paper has everything I want. I was wondering why it had not been mentioned. Is it a piece of garbage? thanks!
