Mankind successfully landed on a comet for the first time in human history. The mission was a gigantic success.Hey Pada,
Did you see the update?
Did you see the "iceball" is a ROCK?
Did you see they don't know where Philae is?
Look at all that "ice"
So, not only were they wrong about the composition of the comet (or any comet, for that matter), but they aren't even sure what they are going to do with the solar charging problems, due to the failure to land properly.
But you call that "success" An equivalent would be trying to bomb Hiroshima and hitting Moscow, instead.
On top of it all, some of the instruments are useless because they can't operate the onboard drill.
SUCCESS!!!! SCIENCE!!!111!@!!@! HALFWAY TO THE BROAD SIDE OF A BARN!
Paradigms will change due to this failure, and for that, I am happy.
In that sense, I'll call it a "success", just like Copernicus or Michelson-Morley, it falsifies the standard-model hypothesis. I also suppose the orbiter aspect of the mission will still give us some stunning data about the EM effects as the ROCK approaches the inner heliosphere. I wonder if they'll still try to say the IONIZED COMA is from "sublimation of ice"?
