First Hydro Attempt Girl Scout/ Grandaddy Purp From Seed

This is my first attempt at hydro with a home built dutch bucket/ top feed system. My current nutes are Fox Farms Grow Big Hydro, Big Bloom, General Hydro's Silica Blast, Advanced Organic B1, and Organic Cal Mag Plus. My medium is the recycled glass Growstone. I also had a little left over Botanicare Pro Blend Veg am using. I was trying to go organic, but its a pain because it doesnt mix up and settles in the res so I am switching to Humbolt Countys Own line of nutes because I am getting them for free, but next time I buy some I am going to run Botanicare's KIND line, or Soul Synthetics line. My light is a 18/6 600w MH in a cool tube for veg and another 400w will be added for flower, the 600w will be a HPS bulb and the 400w will be MH to give a full spectrum and a total of 1000w, but remain predominately red. I keep my res cool by circulating the water through a 1/4" copper coil in a deep freeze. It was cheaper than buying a cooler and now I have a deep freeze and a cooler. Lol.

The left side from top to bottom is Girl Scout, Girl Scout, and a random seed I got from a friend that was supposed to be an auto, but that looks doubtful. So I guess it will be a surprise. lol.

The right side is al Grandaddy Purp.

The first pic is day 25 the next one is day 30.

ppm is at 1k
water is kept about 65*F and 5.5 - 6.5 pH

Welcome to the madhouse M8.

I like the way you think. I too have added both light types to my flower room. I do all my veggin, cloning under T5's but run 2-600w HPS and 2-400w MH in the flower room. It is working very well.

If you are circulating the nutes through the copper line, you might want to consider changing that out to stainless, so as not to risk leaching toxic whatnots into the res. from the copper. Any ferrous metal ( bronze is the worst ) has the potential to react to the nutes. I use a closed loop of glycol/water in a freezer running through 1/2" stainless tubing to cool my reservoirs . I can get the 27 gallon res. at 75 degrees down to 65 in an hour. and the little one 10 gallons in about 20 mins.

Looking forward to the rest of the story.

thanks for the tip on the cooling line. i was in a hurry so i didn't get too fancy, or put a lot of thought into it. i thought about doing it like yours and keep the coolant seperate from the actual res water like a heat exchanger. ill probably modify it like that on the next go round.
