Folks have done this successfully. You probably can't overwater and in fact will need to water much more frequently. Have you considered a coco/perlite mix? A good balance that will retain moisture longer but still be nice and airy.Anyone here doing or have done a 100% perlite hempy? if so, how often did you water/feed the seedling before it hit the res? and after it hit the res? is it possible to overwater if it is pure perlite without rockwool or jiffys?
I did a flush on my perlite plants and all, but one loved it! That one, in a matter of 22 hours earned me crispy leaves literally crush on touch! Does anyone have an idea how that even possible had only a few tiny tip burns to after flush crunchy leaves?? I used the same everything even the amount of flushing done was the exact same. is there a thing like root shock that would stop the roots from uptaking water?Ok so excess salts from fertz wont build up in this medium? Because im 4 weeks into flowering 2 purple kush in pure perlite hempys 5g. 1 is a monster 2.5ft square the other has always struggled alittle but not too bad 2ft square but in the last week the smaller one got a little nute burn so i backed off and it still doesnt look good theres little yellow dots on the fan leaves now. So i got worried this morning so i flushed them both with 5L of phd water. I grew in 50/50 coco perlite last time and flushed once a week. Just wondering if the same has to be done with just perlite?
I have done 100% perlite and 75/25 perlite/vermiculite ....both work much the same, just have to water less often with the vermiculiteAnyone here doing or have done a 100% perlite hempy? if so, how often did you water/feed the seedling before it hit the res? and after it hit the res? is it possible to overwater if it is pure perlite without rockwool or jiffys?
never have flushed a hempy (perlite)Do you have to flush 100% perlite like coco? Bit off topic but you guys would know.
to my disapproval rockwool, would much rather have something with out going as it makes the smoke harsher then it should be.do all of you use rockwool cubes or jiffy inside the hempy? or just straight perlite or perlite/vermiculite
I'll second thatnever have flushed a hempy (perlite)
I clone into rockwool, I did try a conversion from soil to perlite, I did get a Good yield, however the roots looked not great.probaby too much moisture. I would suggest rockwool over jiffy.do all of you use rockwool cubes or jiffy inside the hempy? or just straight perlite or perlite/vermiculite
Are you saying that you feel like rockwool makes the weed have a harsher taste? Because all mine was smooth. Maybe because I'm using a 1" cube.to my disapproval rockwool, would much rather have something with out going as it makes the smoke harsher then it should be.
I start my seedling/cuttings directly into pure perlite in solo cups with a plastic baggy over them. Sink em deep. Like in soil you only put them in a inch or so. I drop mine in almost 2 inches. Water daily after the first 8 days. I find the small cups stay moist for awhile. after theyve rooted i transplant them into 3.5g buckets.Anyone here doing or have done a 100% perlite hempy? if so, how often did you water/feed the seedling before it hit the res? and after it hit the res? is it possible to overwater if it is pure perlite without rockwool or jiffys?
