CFL vs. HPS

what's the difference in yield?
How much of a difference is the utility bill?
Is the HPS so hot it could start a fire?

HPS will typically yield more watt per watt than CFL, but it all depends on the grower....a good grower will produce more with CFL's than a crappy grower will produce with HPS
Watt for watt they consume the same electricity....600 watts of CFL's costs the same to operate as a 600 watt HPS
Sure HPS could cause a fire, but so can CFL's.....both require caution and respect

....If you want to seriously grow any kind of decent yield of cannabis, get away from the CFL's and get some light power.
CFL's are very good for starting seedlings but thats about it. I originally started out with CFL's and I found out right quick that wasn't gonna do it.
Even with a 400 watt light you'll notice a big difference fairly quick.

Hands down for best results use
both HPS and CFL's in unison!

How all the way. I start my seedlings with cfl, but if you any fat solid cobs, more light is needed IMO

exactly..... I have combined 6500K CFL & HPS when they are younger to provide that additional spectrum

This year I supplemented my indoor sunshine grow with CFL's, I felt it really accelerated the progression in the veg mode, but less effective in the flower stage

You're asking the difference in yield between cfl vs hid and most people would think it's a silly question. How much you'll be spending on electricity depends and what your draw is at the plug but I assume the hid would draw more.

You are absolutely correct, there is no such thing as a stupid question. However, this type of question does show that you are quite lazy as there are dozens if not hundreds of threads on this very topic. Also, what the hell does the fact that you are a female have to do with anything?
