From my experience 'dro' is a much better high, grows at a faster rate, and tastes better. However, I'm sure it'd depend on the strain, lights, and whatever other environmental things you can think of.

Growing in soil, or a semi-soilless mix, is the only way to go. Growing Organically is even more important to me.
.
I've got 30 years under my belt. For the last 10 years, I've grown only in soil. Mary grown in soil, to me, just has more soul. Sure, for the fast & furious crowd - the speed of Hydro has it's appeal & all the nice little bottles of super grow this & super bloom that make it easy. But with Hydro - overfertilizing is much easier to do, water is less forgiving if you make a mistake & if you loss power - all can be lost.
.
To me, since taste is very important. I'll always take quality over quantity any day. So, Hydro - though a little faster - does not get my vote.
.
Grow Organic, Grow in Soil, or the taste of your bud - you just might spoil....
.
Keep it Real...Organic...

agrees with ohsogreen, organic bud is far superior to hydro bud, sweeter more natural tasting, cleaner burning, better for the environment etc ok hydro is marginally quicker but who cares about an extra week or two for great tasting buds! And organics in the hands of a skilled grower can b just as quick as hydro! Organics/soil is the future of growing not hydro imho

ok i've been growing for a while. i started in soil but recently switched to hydro.

in terms of faster growth and bigger bud development, hydro is better hands down.

in terms of taste, i've heard soil is better since you don't get the chemical taste but that might be due to hasty drying/curing.

in terms of potency that's all genetic based. good/expensive seeds with superior genetics will be better than the other.

in terms of ease of growth, i've found hydro to be much easier. you just fill the tank with the nutreints/water and let 'em grow. except for the occasional adjustment of the light and changing of the resorvoir you can just watch it grow.

your buddy sounds like a douche who doesn't know what he's talking about :) he needs to do his research before spouting off ignorant statements.

HEY!!! Keep your opions to yourself.

Grow for 20+ years...then you can say what's better!!!
Sorry for only having grown for 17 years +/- 1! Soil and hydro...My statement was merely an analogous contentious truth. conservatism reigns in US does it not. Soil=Conservative....IMO! Quantity and Quality=Hydro.:joint:

Ok 17 is good enough for me...but i will never go back to hydro...TOO many problems can occur.

Bud grown is soil is better tasting by far, and yields are just as good as hydro..if you do it right and have the space...most people force there plants to flower, taking vital time away from the plant to mature.

This is how it goes

Hydro- is for the peron that wants to grow big in a small space, and wants to do it a shorter time.

Soil- is for the patient person, with some room, that will reap the rewards when finished.

There's a reason why God created soil.
Man made is always rushed and flawed!!!!

Soil growers are the equivalent to the people who stood by the belief the earth was flat even when the stars disproved it!
Well how much time are you shaving off a grow?
And how much more budd-age?

If it isn't 2-3 times better, then.........

World flat vs round? One is right one is wrong.
Soil vs hydro, both do work, and work well. Soil has *even* worked for a few million years.

(Oh the world is actually flat. It has a celestial door way at the edge that zaps ya back around :hump:)

A better analogy would have been walking vs taking a limo. :)

it is always easier to reply to than to start a debate.

lol i love it! The great soil vs hydro debate... It all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day, what works for you. Personally i grow organic, im not into mega huge yields coz im only growin for me n the mrs, dont bother me waiting for an extra week or two for SUPERIOR organic bud, and i cant be arsed with all the hydro pissing about, constantly checkin and adjusting ph & ec, flushing, changing reservoirs every two weeks, calibrating meters etc. I have grown hydro years ago in a huge flood & drain system and i did get huge yields but for alot of work. Now i just chuck some decent organic soil in a pot chuck in me seedlings in the pot mix my organic nutes in water and away i grow! Average 15-20oz from 5plants every 2-3months, good enough for me! :peace:

all you have to do with hydro is check once a day and test ph and nutes and if you flush for 2 weeks and cure in the dark in glass jars it is the best bud i think
