MH Conversion Bulb Problem

I have a 400w MH conversion bulb for flowering.(Mh to HPS conversion bulb) I accidentally hit the plug with my foot and unplugged it and now it won't come on. How do you tell if the bulb is no longer any good? It is a Eye of Hortilux.

I just said screw it. I sent the hubby to the hydro store to get a new one....this sucks, it was only a 6 months old...

yeah it does blow. Those lights aren't cheap. I just don't get why it would just stop working, and I don't see anything wrong with it. When I put in my other MH bulb it works so I know it isn't the ballast. Oh well I guess I will just have to work a little extra today to make up for what he spends on a new one...could be worse!

if you unplug your ballast when its hot and running you have to weight at least 15 minutes before you plug it back in or it will not come on. I just did this myself this morning waited 15 minutes then no problems come right back on and its also a MH ballast.

Well that would explain it! We just went in there to put in the new bulb and I decided to give the troubled bulb one more try and it worked...live and learn I guess.

Dear hobbyists,

MH conversion bulbs are expensive.... Open the ballast box if there is one and search for three incoming wires. One may be green or copper this is the ground, this goes and connects directly to the fixture (if there is one) Once open, a white wire will connect to a "COM" labled yellow wire. Black wire connects to another yellow wire to voltage that you are using (120, 220, 308, ect.. ) All other wires will be capped off. Save your money and check the connection. HID bulbs lasts cc. 40K hours.

It was just hot. After I bought my new bulb I came home and re-tested the bulb I thought was broken, and it worked. So now I have a spare bulb, its all good.

Yup always keep a spare bulb. I learned the hard way with a bulb from HTG.
