Help with security ideas

I think one topic that doesn't come up enough is security.

A friend of mines home was recently broke into and I'm looking into some security ideas.

I know the best thing is people not knowing about your grow. But when your a legal caregiver for years with multiple patients, the word gets out.
I'm familiar with Casino security protocol/surveillance tactics but a lot doesn't apply to the home grower.

I like the idea of outdoor/indoor surveillance system for security from theft, and if something does go awry for your own safety from LEO's. Although I've heard the first thing they do is rip cameras down.

I know some of you have some good ideas.

dogs...signs...gates...motion lights..sirens...fences...thick shrubs...locks and locks..barred windows.when you don't wanna go fort knox, home depot can only do so much. but if i really wanted to deter for least amount i would go with a bunch of those motion triggered hunting cameras that have a bright flash. scatter them from main property entrance to four corners of home.

I thinking maybe IR cameras outside so people know they are there. Its hard to conceal inside.

Barred windows would be way out of place in my neighborhood.

Why do your patients need access to the grow house?

They don't. On a side note they are legally aloud in to inspect the grow (if the grower allows) and most want to see whats going on and rightly so. What I meant to say is while the grower may keep a secret its not likely that all the patients do.

Hidden pinhole cameras wouldn't be likely vandalized. At least you wouldn't be replacing camera gear.

An alarm system setup to snap shots and notify your cell. Glass break (not in your grow room lol as they see IR / heat).

Make them work with bars on windows and security doors.

get some bouncers. gate your house? picket fence? or better yet find a welder and weld a big plate onto your doors/doorframes. kick proof..bar your windows from the inside, if youre on point find some caltrops

, a pistol.. anyone thats breaking in is pretty much free game lol.

Nothing changes the mind of a sneaky lowlife thief like 2 or 3 150 lb rotties.
It will cost a bit to feed em but well worth the peace of mind.

Put a sign on the property saying that by entering the premises you consent to video recording.

Set up this field of mines to and from the grow room.

If anyone makes it through they deserve all the weed they can make it back with.

Then you can sell the video and make millions.

All those cameras are gonna work so great, unless the thief is wearing a mask. And putting a sign up saying you are recording will ensure they will cover their faces before entry. Your crop is worth thousands to a thief, a camera isn;'t gonna do shit as a deterrent. You think people who rob banks don't know there are cameras everywhere?

And even if you do get a clean shot, who is that random person on your screen? You wont have a clue, and odds are, nether will anyone else including the police.

Loud noises and flashing lights, dog maybe, if a perimeter is breeched is your best bet to just scare them off before they have time to take much of anything, because a deterrent should take precedence over just filming yourself getting fucked.

Cameras aren't a total solution, but they are very worth it. Not so much as a deterrent, but finding out who it is. If you've ever been involved in an investigation, and only have video footage to go by, you'd know. Its not always cut and dry, see his face etc. And video can tell a lot, you just have to know what your looking for.

My area happens to be fairly desolate, where people know you or know of you. It also suffers from people trying to make a quick buck to get more pills.

If in Colorado or other castle doctrine states, we can bust a cap in any intruder.

regardless of the intruders skills, exp., knowledge of property, cameras can help. the entire world uses them and are a primary tool of evidence...get a clue? i digress. dogs have been primary alarm since caveman days. yes yes i know a smart perp will nutralize the dogs w/e but here in the real world we're working on lowest common denominator. and criminals want easy prey with minimal effort and risk. you put enough barriers in the way and they instinctively do a risk vs. reward evaluation. then will move on looking for another target.now let's say jiji's joint is the mother load and a decent team has decided to take the haul. 2 people when nobody is at domicile.hire a security consultant. they will analyze the layout, budget, owners comfort zone.here in the country it's all about dogs and motion lights and gates. would take a fkn dumbass to come round these parts looking for scores.or it would take a pro.we don't know enough about the layout to truly assess and help.dogs.fences and junkyard dogs. that in itself probably deters 90% of jackassery in the world.don't like fences? under ground electric fence with wired collars so dogs can roam freely.good doors and locks.good windows with locks and a siren and the more obstacles he has to contend with the more likely he's gonna say 'shit i'm running out of time' and leave. hopefully with a video of him scatterbrain bolting.someones peace of mind isn't something i take lightly and wish i could help more.adt, siren, dogs, a few cameras locks i think is all you need.shit you could get card swipe locks like at hotels for your grow room area. you know how hard it is to get through a hotel door?
