LET'S HEAR FROM THOSE "LEGAL" States!

Yeah, wink wink. The DA in Portland recently said they will not prosecute marijuana violations.
Vancouver, Wa. sells pot for $25 or more a gram. That's getting up to near $1000 an oz.! I refuse to even consider it. And there are reports that a 2 gram bag(?) actually weighs in around 1.7 grams. The black market is thriving.
Here in Portland, I have found extension cords and socket adapters in short supply. CFLs are prominently displayed in Lowes and WalMart.
and $25 is cheap… I don't know how these guys stay in business when you can get $250oz from dispensaries and $150 and up oz from growers… its just a matter of time before the rec users meet med growers and start getting herb cheaper and than a huge crack down on medical will come.

I think ill be moving to CO soon, hoping to find a way to make a living as a farmer. Anyone here have experience with that? Seems like most people are staying hush hush about it, and considering the money one can make right now I dont really blame them I guess.

Still though, any info would be appreciated :) I have financial backing, and assuming we are able to get our license pretty quick after the two year residency wait, I will have a few acres to go to work on.

It can be dicey to see your outdoor crop make it to maturity before they get frozen in Colorado.

Im hoping to have the majority of the plants framed in with ceder posts, and the whole deal wrapped in greenhouse plastic :bigjoint:

I even saw a grow posted in High Times recently where the owners dug down about six foot and did that post greenhouse deal. Kept temperatures stable, seemed super neat.

Oregon here. Too new to say much, but I am elated that my state has jumped on the bandwagon. Our rules are set up pretty fairly, IMO:

4 plants per household, 8 oz dry flowers for every adult, able to transport 1oz at a time. Can't remember limits on solid foods and concentrates... Growing and consumption must be out of public view, but that doesn't mean just in your living room... Smoking behind a fenced-in front yard courtyard is A-OK once the law takes effect in July 2015.

No distinction has been made yet on immature plants or penalties for having a killer harvest (one could easily exceed the 8oz limit with even just one massive outdoor plant). The OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission) is meeting early 2015 to fine tune the rules. I'm hopeful they will specify a 4 plant limit for MATURE plants and allow an additional 4-8 immature plants/clones/seedlings, similar to what our medical program allows. The measure did not take SOG growing into account, unfortunately.

Not many people are talking about it where I live, but Portland seems to be pretty energized over the new laws--which won't take effect until July 2015, however the DA won't prosecute in THAT county now. I'm hoping my county follows suit...

If anything, additional media attention and the passage of time toward the "full legalization" date will open up more conversation--which I'm most excited about. It'll be nice to carry around a few nugs in my keychain "pill" bottle along with some papers in my wallet, and be 100% in compliance with state law.

I think it's a little lame that retail businesses won't open up until 2016. I think this date is subject to change, though--I'd love to see the retail business side of things fasttracked.

I'm in Michigan and we've had MJ cards for 3 or 4 years. Card costs $100, must be signed off by a MD and is good for 2 years. There are 2 categories -- the MJ user and his caretaker. User is allowed 12 plants at a time and caretakers, suppliers, are allowed 24 plants. You must be able to lock the door that holds the pot room. As far as I know no one has been raided who has either card. Guys call their MJ card a get-out-of-jail-free card. I think the liberal MJ laws here have made narcs switch their attention to harder drugs. Only big bust of a weed grower was a local fool with a mini-plantation caught with 50+ lbs. of product. Around here the word is keep your head down and do your business.

Another thing of interest to me is the dispensaries here in Michigan. One in Ann Arbor sends out email flyers with pix and prices of their various strains. Prices are cheaper than I expected as advertised rates run from $35-50 an eighth. Not much more than street prices.

Be careful out there. BigSteve.

My state is decriminalized and medicinally legal. However, it is also incompetent in terms of municipal government. Our Public Health department has failed to actually implement a system of dispensaries. Those with medical marijuana cards may legally grow and posses a 60 day supply, or appoint a caregiver. However, you can only legally be a caregiver for one patient at a time and the caregiver may not be paid for the time/service provided (only materials).

All in all, most people who want a medical recommendation and know how to play the game can get one. However, there are a major distribution issues where the MMJ is concerned still: there is no outlet to purchase Cannabis. The State is taking its sweet ass time licensing any outlets, so there are none. People who are already growing and involved in that are doing it for money. That isn't all out of greed I wouldn't say but a necessity to get the fucking bills paid.

Most people seriously aren't up for growing their own Cannabis. I simply don't know anyone else other than myself who makes growing for constant supply a priority. Even in legal settings though, there is always going to be a variation in the quality in freshness of the products in various locations. If anything, it seems like there is always going to be a market for top-shelf Cannabis that demands top-dollar at retail.

The thing about the legal market is that their production costs might not truly be any cheaper than homegrown, they could easily be higher as a matter of fact. They are being taxed, they likely have rent/mortgage, insurance, legal, employee expenses as well as the additional costs associated with running a small business or enterprise. Their benefits are an open market/retail setting, higher sales volume and maybe in some cases higher profit margins (less middle men) which could offset some of the additional expenses. As we can see though, price only tends to drop so much on Cannabis and is always correlated with quality.

big steve, what do you mean by "There are 2 categories -- the MJ user and his caretaker. User is allowed 12 plants at a time and caretakers, suppliers, are allowed 24 plants"? no matter what the status, a single patient, or a caregiver growing for that patient is only allowed 12 plants per person. no one single person gets 24 plants, its 12 plants per person. im a caregiver for 5 patients plus myself, for a total of 6 people. 6 people at 12 plants per person equals 72 plants at any given time. also, each person can have a total of 2.5 oz max at any given time on their possession, or 15 oz total in my case.

I was, originally, soliciting responces from "Recreationally Legal" states - but hey - everyone is welcome.

Nullis, it's always good to have a Moderator on board! Yea, it really sounds like your state is dragging it's feet. What state might that be, if you don't mind my asking?

@Dannoo93 support your local grower donate direct :) unless you're someone who likes to buy 6 1/8th of different herb it makes sense to get direct from a grower.

I am Oregon also, I am very very pleased with the 4 plant home growing limit, with 4 plants you can easily keep yourself or your family with plenty of crop. Tens of thousands of people are making the drive from Portland to retail shops across the Columbia river right now, Main Street Marijuana in Vancouver Washington sales out often, but with the arrival of this summer legal liscensed grower crops arriving now in legal stores, they have annouced lower prices on gram, the lastest email says they will have over 20 varieties under $20 dollars per gram now for flowers, they also listed bud trim with 18 percent thc for 15 dollars per gram. Oregons new law is set up to have less taxes than Washington and is easily going to under price them when Oregon stores due open, I kinda laughed when it was said home depot and lowes are sold out of light sockets and have CREE LED's right out front, blinding you when you come thru the door, and gosh those dryer vents and ducts are sure easy to find now also,, LMAO. This is going to be like the huge micro brew craze that is happening in the Northwest, the writers of the law hoped it would b so and set it up so you can "give it away" up to an ounce. I know on July 1st the Hydrodams are going to GROWN and Oregon is going to shine brighter from the space station, hahaha,
Multnomah and Clackamas county have now said outright the DA is going to proceed as if the law is in effect, no prosecutions between now and July, but everyone is laying low with big ass eatin grins on thier faces, and now the Fed said today they are no longer going to press or fund any more DEA drug agents or activity in states that have legalized either recreational or med , I am very optimistic, age old cautions are hard to shed, but the Grin on my face is as wide as the Grinch!!!!

I just checked and Vancouver Washington has $15 dollar grams in flower, thats intense, what a differance a summer crop harvest is making to supply and demand pricing ,, sweet!

There you have it - the Feds are already backing-off in favor of "States' Rights"! I know California will go Recreatioal Legal in the 2016 Election. I'm sure, at least, a few other states will also join in.

STAND THE FUCK BYE, AND LET THE PARTY COMMENCE!

Washingtons summer harvest has hit stores and the result is a drive DOWN in prices , over 20 strains of flower are anywhere from 10 dollars to 15 dollars per gram now, its like heaven

Any product that is illegal carries with it a certain "Hazardous Duty Pay" that applies to anyone in that business. In other words - "If I'm in danger of going to jail; my ass is getting paid the BIG BUCKS". Once that same product becomes "legal", supply and demand will, eventually, establish the legitimate price. That is why some of the biggest opponents to "Legalized Recreational Pot" are the big time growers - they are making a fortune!

I predict that, in time, the price will come way down! It's all about supply and demand. Once we all have the freedom to buy it or grow our own, legit, the price has nowhere to go but down! God bless America and Capitolism!

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's 8oz total! not per person...and I agree, I hope they allow 4 mature plants and said amount of immature plants...I wish it was 8 oz per person though.

I have a very strong feeling that Oregon is going to be 4 plants total, I know this will be a downer from some of you perpetual harvest and sea of green types, but If you do just 1 or 2 outdoor plants thru summer you will be over stocked, or if you just do a small scrog with 2 in the flower and 2 in your veg mother box, you can get by really well, I watched a dude grow a 4 plant scrog right here in this web site and he did it in a referidgerator that he converted and he just chopped last night christmas eve and expects 4 ounces dry weight or more, point is sure you have to do some LST or scroggin to spread it out to make your harvest larger, I just keep coming back to its Legal on July 1st , and you can drive to Vancouver Washington right now and enjoy your refer legal until july 1st. I for one am dancing in the streets litteraly, 8 ounces is 226 grams i cant smoke that much in one year for personal, but what I really look forward to is the homemade baked goods and treats, 1 pound of cannabus butter is really good, plus the 72 ounces of liquids, just spread your harvest out over all that is allowed, sounds great right
