The old uvb question

Folks that do the #10 cfls often don't see a difference because they have to be an inch away to actually do anything and if kept at the proper distance will burn the plants if left on to long.

I have switched from CMH to T5's and now I use ATI True Actinic and Coral Plus bulbs which can be left on the whole time and which make a huge difference

I through in a reptile UVB bulb for my flowering lady the last grow, but I honestly can't tell any difference in the finished product.

Like most cannabis technique, this one will be in the air until a few growers do a decent side by side.

Luck to you.

when it comes to this topic, i miss the chats i had with KiteHigh-- r.i.p.

if someone wanted to really get into UVb supplementation in their grows, then start reading the UVb data on plants (literature online done by universities/labs/phds) --google is your friend~
some of the stuff found on forums just say stuff like--- "bought a bulb, shit works bro, i recommend it" OR "bought a bulb, didn't see any difference, shit doesn't work) without offering any info on (why? how? what actually happened?)

http://www.reptileuv.com/ -- good uvb bulbs, but you can find other brands~

Man did your post ring for me as I used to talk with Lumi about this and he passed last year, I miss talking with him about it. He had a UV meter and he measured lots of bulbs looking for one that could mimic the UV at the equator and 2 bulbs came out The ATI true Actinic that I use and the Arcadias that Lumi used. There were no reptile lights that filled the bill in terms of the equator uv levels both bulbs that work are HO T5's I've been usin em for over a year, they get er done and there is a huge difference !!!

--I'll check out those bulbs you mentioned, I always stay open to new suggestions, being close minded never gets the same results as the latter~ #cheers

We really need to do a side by side, show the difference, and have a lab test both samples. Anyone legal and know of a lab?

Yes, and, Yes. This is something that I want to do, but not quite ready to attempt at this very moment. If no one steps up to the plate in the next several months, perhaps I will get to it then.

Well, anyone who isn't currently using UVB could do it easily. Just add one UVB light over one end of the grow room. Take a couple of samples from very near the UVB light and a few from the opposite end of the room. Package them up and send them to stankyyank so he can get them analyzed.

I know that its not exactly uvb.
When I was using cfls I played around and came to the conclusion that the heavier i was on 6500k the better tricrome production I got.

Oh and there is a pill, you can get apple cider vinegar in pill form :)
Someone still has to explain how eating an acid will reduce my bodies acidity. Seems completely backwards, shouldn't you eat baking soda instead?

There are several labs up in Washington, such as Analytical360. I know some folks who run a disp in Tacoma who also do in-house testing using gas chromatography. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure what's better for analysis in this instance, thin layer or gas chromatography, any thoughts? RM3, do they have labs to test in Colorado? Up here the tests run around $50-65 a pop. If I pick up some ATI bulbs, which I'm very much considering, I'll attempt a run in a month or two. Unfortunately, I need to finish some other unrelated projects first.

Don't know what thin air is, but I would be delighted to see the results of a gas chrom/mass spec. Should tell us way more than we need to know.

Yes we have labs, but they just made it so regular users can't get the test done only licensed growers and stores
