Humble Advice Re: Fertilizer For Beginners

My junior high science teacher had us do an experiment with Miracle-Gro. We grew bean plants, half with MG and half without. Those with MG grew to about twice the size of those without. One died because someone gave it too much MG.

Now, when I grow MJ, it is because I want some MJ without dealing with drug dealers, pushers, capitalists, ripoffs, undercover police, or the guy who forgot to show up. Growing it for just a few dollars an ounce is cool, too.

So when it comes to using fertilizer ("nutes"), I'm not out to set records. I'm not out to get on the cover of "High Times". I just want some marijuana. If I don't grow enough, then I grow some more.

As far as MJ and fertilizer- I know if I don't add any fertilizer I will get a small crop. If I add a little fertilizer I will get a bigger crop. But, if I try to grow the biggest pot bush, EVER! I run the risk of killing my plant and having to deal with people I rather not until I grow another.

The directions on the fertilizer labels are for ideal conditions. The directions are written to sell more fertilizer. Cut the recommended dose in half or a quarter, and your plant will grow. Just maybe not as big as that guy on the cover of High Times. But at least you'll have some.

My advise is to grow a few smallish plants and once you have a few grows under your belt, than you can look for the ideal nute' schedule and get advice from the more knowledgeable people on increasing yield. More is better than a little, but a little is way better than none.

Here's a good general rule for when you are starting an unknown nute -- find the suggested dosage on the package and cut that number by 2 or 3. After starting your new nute regimen watch your gals for discolored leaves or any other signs of stress. After a couple weeks you can start adjusting the dosage slightly upwards if you are inclined. Point is to reach a number you feel helps the plants without helping them too much. So start slow and listen to your girls for feedback from them.

Yeppers.
Used mg plenty of times. It is hot if used full strength but time they are a couple foot tall go full strength. Just ease into it.

Less is more when using nutes!!
It's real hard to take nutes out but easy to add nutes.
