using old seeds

I ordered seeds from attitude and wanted to stock up and do a one time purchase, plus they gave out a bunch of freebies, so I ended up getting like 20 seeds. I just kept using clones so I had a stock pile of seeds; I left them in their respective zip lock bags in my grow room. I shut down the grow for the summer, but started it back up a couple months ago. However I have now gone through 9 seeds and I am 0 for 9. WTF? The seeds are less than 2 years old, but I can't get any of them to germinate at all. I know how to grow seeds, and I didn't have 100% success rate before, but it was more like 80-90%. Zero out of 9 seems really fucked up to me, especially since they aren't that old. What the hell is going on? I am going to start another 3 tonight, but I was already hoping for a january harvest, and now i'm looking at maybe not even having plants by january.

I've never stored any seed in the fridge. I use old seeds in my garden from 4-5 years and never have germination issues. Does attitude do something to their seeds to make them not viable after a short period? Or do I just have a string of bad luck with the last 9 seeds?

Ya ive germinated tons of seeds that are 5+ years old. Stored in bottles in a cardboard box in my closet lol.

Sent from my LG-LS980 using Rollitup mobile app

I don't think attitude would, they just distribute seeds.
That's what i'm inclined to believe. I'm just frustrated because I thought I would be harvesting by mid january, instead i've used up my top 9 strain choices out of my stock pile and don't even have a sprout yet.

Put it in the dirt and water it. I've never bothered with anything other than that since I have a 80-90% success rate.
Good for you !!! personally hate the paper towel stuff lol with old beans I soak regular garden seeds in a couple oz's of water for 48 hours then soak my old beans in that water for 12 to 24 hours. Seeds (all) have an enzyme that tells em to pop when they get wet. The veggie seed soak is full of that enzyme. Do they all pop ,,,no , but def ups the rate of success

Temperature is a very important factor for seed germination. The temperature of the soil/potting mix should be over 72 degrees (F). Warmer temperatures accelerate germination; even over 80 is fine. If it is too cold, though, germination will be very slow and the seeds can become susceptible to damping off especially where the air is too humid.

Yea I had a heat mat under the last batch, but still no go. I'm popping more tonight and i'm going to turn the heat mat up a bit and try to keep the ambient temp in the 80's.

I toured a Mexican "plantation" back in the 1970's. This big-time grower kept all his seeds stored in a 'fridge. He told me that his experience showed him that 40 degrees F. was best for long-term seed storage. Just passing it on.

Good luck, BigSteve.

I ended up getting a few to finally pop on the last grow using a heat mat, but still a terrible success rate. I still had some seeds left over and tried to start up another grow about a month ago, but so far i'm 0 for 4 (still using the same left over seeds from my original attitude order). They must have been damaged from sitting my grow room for so long. I tried to order more seeds on attitude, but they stopped accepting most credit cards and I couldn't get it to work. I ended up ordering some from herbies. I'm going to attempt to germinate them as soon as they come in, and I'm going to vacuum seal the remaining seeds and refrigerate them for future use.

Store in a dry, cool, dark place. Sounds like you we them in your grow room maybe something happened to the seeds moisture you can't see, excessive heat,etc
