I used to think the paper towel method was the way to go, but after a few attempts both ways, I now believe straight in dirt is the best. I haven't had a failure yet

soak till sink, then to paper towel, sprouts then to medium. success is based on confirmations. sinks in water (confirms viability) sprouts in towel (confirms germination). after that success is mostly down to grower.the germination process is too varied to confirm a best, it's just what you like doing.

Put dirt in solo or foam cup, put seed in, moisten the soil, put a heat pad on low to get the soil warm. Leave in the dark with some light coming in, it doesn't take much light at all. You should be seeing a sprout in 4 days tops, im a newer grower but ive had 100% success rate, just make sure that the soil stays moist and that the sprouts get light ASAP had a few die because of this. But honestly anything other than putting the seed in soil is a waste of time unless you have a lot of old seeds

a good way to germ is to put seeds directly into living soil, this way the tap root inoculates itself with beneficial micro-organisms which serve to protect the root and help it to eventually develop a secondary root system due to a mycorhizzal network. I grow in coco so inoculate the medium with a simple aact, so I drop them in that, the dwc boys also use tea for the same reasons and to avoid their dreaded slime

totally agree I get 100% with viable seeds and its very similar to what happens in nature imo

This month I've forgot to check my paper towels and let them dry up. Suppose a Ziploc fixes that problem.

This time I put straight to coco. Since I'm not running organics I don't see why to inoculate. A shame since all my innoculants are reaching end of shelf life.

The run I didnt let dry out had seeds sink then into coco, but not a single plant came up

I always start seeds in between paper towel layers. Or, you can simply throw them into a cup of clean, warm water. Put them in a war, dark place and wait. Fresh seeds will germinate this way in a matter of days. Happy growing-

If soil grow start in seed raising mix in little seed starter contaniers in till they have enough of a root system to transplant into a bigger pot, soiless start in rockwool cubes. Cups of water and paper towel methods work but are to fiddley when it comes to actually transplanting into something more substantial and stresses the young plant out a lot generally....all methods that involve heat and water will work its just the next step after they have sprouted if they are in a mix or wool already there is no undeeded stress

Good ol' paper towel method -- never fails.
I second that, warm paper towel method has worked very well for us. The seeds are moist from all sides and germinate quickly, showing their taproot in a couple of days. Idk why so many newbs make this such a complicated matter. It's easy, if you start with fresh, viable seed, you will succeed.

I put in water for about 6 hours, then onto moist paper overnight, usually germ the next day. Have tried both ways but I like to know whats going on cus I am an impatient person
Dude, this hobby requires lots of patience. How will you wait 2 + months to harvest when you don't have patience to germinate seeds?
