Got the CO2 tank swapped out today for a full one, so it should last me at least a month. I hate carrying that thing out to my car, I figure it looks pretty strange to the neighbors. I raised the lights a few inches yesterday to encourage a bit more stretch-I think they're about 24 inches above the canopy now. todayspic.jpg

The 730nm led bar was scheduled for delivery today, but it hasn't showed up. Hopefully tomorrow! I've had it happen a few times where some jackass stole packages off of my porch before I could get home to put them in the house. People are shady in this city sometimes....but then sometimes the mail is a bit late too.... we'll see:)

Tell them you homebrew and keg your own beer. Thats why i have a 20lb tank.

Woot guys:) I complained too soon...I guess packages are coming at a different time than letters. Look what we got:

Does 24 inches above the canopy seem reasonable for the 730nm fixture? Does anyone know what's best?

Now I gotta move the cam again, haha.

So, I decided that I'll need some sort of perpetual grow to get enough from this small space. After thinking, I will keep 6 plants in the flower tent, like you see below, but I will begin a ~9 week rotation, where I hope to add two vegged plants to the flower tent every three weeks. I already have a veg tent, so I just have to set it up, build a veg light, a few fans, temperature controller and we're ready to rock:) And it begins again, lol

Yes, I'm already well into the plans and the setup.......

I think I have about 5 weeks to get everything ready. My veg tent is going to be a Secret Jardin Dark Propagator DP90 2x3x2 tent (Long story short, I got it for free when an Amazon seller messed up). I put it together yesterday and set the tent on it's side to make a 2x2x3 veg area:)

but I wasn't clear, I am interested in the horizontal mounting of the fans....I guess that's why I was asking. The artic's as I am sure you are aware, has a vertical fan placement and you have to think that even drawing in side air horizontally lower in the air column is more efficient that drawing it from the top where more of the the heat is likely to congregate.

I myself have been looking at beefier coolers than the Arctics and really latched onto to Dynatron's....like this

would a coolermaster hyper 212+ be a good alternative for the money than the arctic 11, and the dynatron? im learning about these diy leds, but i do know computers as i overclock and compete. the hyper212+ is excellent for the money and i've had it adequately cool an i7-860 at 3.8ghz with hyperthreading on. i7's draw alot more watts than advertized, and my rig was pulling around 130 watts easily, and up to 150. they're around $20 each and have the horizontal fan configuration you were seeking

edit, it seems the price went up on those, though the original hyper 212 was 20, then the plus came out, at about same price, but seems like the price is a lil higher but it's still a great budget oriented cooler with the horizontal flow fan configuration, and it usually comes with additional fan brackets so u can mount 2 fans in a push/pull configuration and on lowest speed they perform better than 1 on the highest speed

The coolermaster's are a good choice, I have seen many of them recently, however, I really think they [like the above cooler you mention, the Dynatron] are really only effective @12v's [or has been shown in limited sample] on diodes that are being driven past nominal current aka over 2 amps per chip......

5v's on regular coolers seems to be the most efficient speed for cooling when running below nominal {Test] Current.....[1.9a Cree, 2.0+ amps Vero] or any of the smaller Vero's too....

You can read this whole thread, if you haven't, or skip to about page 14-19 and most of the testing of fan speeds per various diodes is performed by Supra, very informative!

haha, there is no news, just a new project

Thanks again @captainmorgan . I picked up some of the timers you linked and they arrived today. Easy to set up and they work so far:) I've got the 730nm coming on at 5mins before lights on, and turning off two minutes later. Then, 2 minutes before lights off they come back on and stay for 6 minutes after lights out.

I would not turn the 730nm on before lights on, or any time before lights out. I mean if you want to experiment, sure... but the results could be very stretchy.

I think @Positivity will agree with me on this one.

730nm any other time will cause serious stretch.
