Alternating nodes

I have done some topping, lsting, and supercropping my last 2 grows and I like it but I have wanted to use the @Uncle Ben 's topping technique but my clones START with alternating nodes so it does not seem condusive. I read here that generally the alternating nodes happen with maturity but.... Any thoughts???

UBs method only properly works on plants with directly opposing nodes. You will not get the same hormonal distribution when the plants have alternating nodes.

Check out monster cropping I do it with clones to get them insanely bushy, I don't know if you have seen my plants, but I grow trees. I prefer seeds tho, but some genetics must be cloned to keep killer phenos

Hey Man, been awhile. Yes, I already concluded that (with validation in my current grow.) Is there something in my pricess I can change or do I need a seed grow?? @Uncle Ben, I see, validated your conclusion. I read through
that whole thread months ago but don't remember if this was touched upon.

If you want to get more than one main cola and have only alternating nodes to work with, I guess you could top the plant down to 2 or 3 nodes and see what happens. More than likely the cola that will form from the top node's foliar output will be dominant unlike using seeds which have opposing nodes and all 2 or 4 colas tend to be dominant or about the same size.

I have seen your trees. . Monster cropping will be tried. I want to build on my current techniques first.

i top plants with alternating branches all the time.both the new shoots eventhough one is higher than the other turn into strong branches and colas.the two branches end up at about the same height,so niether look more dominant than the other.the same will happen if i top again and again.so i always end up with a bushy plant with plenty of tops.

here's what i would do if you have your heart set on it
make that clone the mother veg it it out she will revert back to opposing nodes take a bunch of clones when she does
not sure how long it takes or the general details but i have had mother plants do that
just my 2 cents

I train alternating node clones for many tops, at least 10 per plant. It just takes a little lst and topping is all. If you're working with one main branch, top it and then tie it down. In a couple weeks you should have all new individual branches growing at the same height. Topping is more uniform when done from a seed grow, but it's pretty easy to get the same effects with alternating nodes with a little training.
Edit: Also look into "mainlining" if you're going from seed. After you top it and have 4 branches you then tie those four branches down to the side of the pot. This will make a awesome bush with very little training. It works GREAT.

For sure man, no problem at all. I always cram too many plants into my small flower room and always have multiple strains going so I am constantly training plants lol. You know what they say, "when there is a will there is a way".

i kind of don't understand what you're trying to say. alternating internodes happen from the very beginning. first one is six o'clock straight up, next one is either a quarter to three or a quarter past nine, lol. if all you're looking for is a lot of tops, try a scrog, all tops...

They happen from the beginning when cloned from plants already alternating... Not so from seed. Scrog is going to happen next winter. I like rotating my plants under my light, generally.

I'm a huge fan of mainlining as part of my training regiment, and yeah, it's a little trickier but not much.

The best way I've found to keep the nodes closer together is to top just the absolutely newest growth where the nodes are really stacked. Like you are fimming, but didn't "miss". they will eventually stretch apart some, but not as bad as starting with nodes that are already 1" apart.

Btw. I did the "top it and tie it down" method you suggested here and the results are great. Thanks, it was a very nice and simple addition to my third grow. Created a very nice second tier with multiple "mains" per plant. Soon to harvest a new record.
