New basementgrow room, co2 freindly!

How do you feel about Co2 bags?
I have used them, and not used them, and the difference is noticeable (in veg). I have read that Co2 is only beneficial when the plants are already saturated with light, and temperatures are 85-95 degrees. I use the recommended number of bags for my sealed space (81-90 w/ lights on), and I have noticed considerably denser growth. I keep temperatures 75 degrees or cooler in my bloom room, so I figure Co2 is not as effective. I am also drawing fresh air from outside directly into the room (winter).

I may switch to a tank so I can more accurately distribute Co2.

Thoughts?

If you purchase a tank system you should really get a PPM controller.

If you don't have AC your tanks are not going to last long at all. You wil be really surprised and disappointed how fast the tanks empty at 1400ppm

Co2 will cause denser growth and faster if you get get your temps in the 80's. That said, your night time temperature has to be very close to that or your plants will stretch like a mother fucker.

Dial down the temps in the last 2-3 weeks of flower. You don't want higher than 78 and I'm talking temperature at the buds, taken with an infrared temp sensor. If your room is 78 chances are your buds are at 83.

Yes it takes money and a precise setup. But if you want the highest yield and highest quality..well that's what it takes.

If you want to fiddle fuck around with timers and fans and other nonsense..then so be it. At least then you can cry foul and wet your diapers when someone points out that your system is weak at best.

ya common sense says you'd have to seal your room an that would logically mean a/c, thanks. as for fiddle fucking timers and fans, I've never done that, i set it up once and the only thing i fiddle fuck with is my heavy ass co2 tank on and off. and i still pull over a pound and a half per light. you said you were around that gpw too right?

I was going to get a controller for my tank of course! :)

Ambient temps in the Bloom Room are 65-72, sometimes cooler. I have a hygrometer underneath the light reading 75 at most (sometimes as low as 66). At night, it can get down to 65, sometimes even as low as 58... I don't need to use AC in the winter, but I have one set up just in case. My hoods are air-cooled with air from outside, and not much heat is emitted from the hoods (according to my hygrometer, about 5 degrees). I am currently in week 6 of flower. I will be using my VEG room to flower week 1-4 however, and temps will be in the 80s. I will then move them to the much lower temperature bloom room for weeks 5-10. Will I be damaging my plants through weeks 1-4, or can they endure a bit more heat in the beginning stages of flower?

I do not use an AC in my VEG room. I'm in a totally sealed space. There is plenty of Co2 (from bags), and humidity and temps are in range. It's not out of the question, however. I would only use it to keep temps at 85 or below for VEG. I was thinking of running my VEG room on a 24/0 cycle instead of 18/6 to keep temps consistent and reduce stretching. Temps are about 81-90 lights on (depending on number of lights in use), 75 Lights off. Your thoughts?

I would love to get an infrared sensor. I'll try to find one online. Thanks.

Yes I feel you on the $ and the precise set up.

How did you know I wear diapers?....

my hoods run de lights and they're about 25 inches long and not air cooled. my rooms sealed and i run my co2 three times a day for 15 minutes. i could give a fuck if you think I'm doing it wrong. i have little nozzles on all my occelating fans so it sprays my co2 all over the room. I'm more than happy with my product and yield and how well my co2 works for me. so why don't you go stroke your ego somewhere that its wanted and asked for. your coming off as a pompous asshole just to let you know. yay, you are setting up a warehouse mr. special. i don't grow in a closet either and i love the results i get from using the co2. go shit on someone else's thread ya pompous downer.
so do you not have an apostrophe key or a shift button? Ha, just yesterday you called me a closet grower and were really just an all around douche....the more of your posts I read, the more I see that you are in fact the douche....and so objectively unintelligent...when you wake up around noon with your hangover, make sure you respond to all of these.

...2lbs per 1,000 last round. About 1.8 and change this round. Still drying the third cut.

Harbor freight sells an infrared thermometer for like $40. You should shoot for less than 10 degree temp difference between day/night. Last couple weeks shouldn't matter.

BTW a hygrometer measures humidity not temp..

i apologise for my lack of capitalization, i didn't know you were so sensitive about spelling. the lack of capitalization is like my handle, or my distinguishing characteristic, or calling card. you know, kinda how my sunny boy always used this :eyesmoke: and jiji uses ~jiji, and some guys use colors.....i don't capitalize letters. if you stopped following me around reading all my posts you wouldn't have to read them. just sayin ;) and ya, you notice how many people i help out on here huh? btw, my bud sits on dispensary shelves because its so clean. i know i have bugs, not a lot of them, but i have them, or have had them all so i know how to fight them and help others to do it. thats why i talk about bugs with people. like i told you before, i have an over the shoulder plug in motorized mosquito fogger for spraying my plants with and i use it once a week. my bug problem isn't a problem because i stay on top of it. like just the other day i found a couple fungus gnats in one of my 55 gl drums so i ordered a 50 lb bag of diatomaceous earth and ill start treating for that through out the whole grow. just because i found a couple bugs in the water, but you can't be too careful right? one thing you won't find is me posting like you, help me, i have spider mites for the first time, cause i been there and done that. and bud, if you post a thread and i come to try and help you and you get all butt hurt because i told you that your doing something i have tested, and concluded doesnt work well, then you get butt hurt, its not my fault your being a bitch. if you don't want help then don't post heeelp me. and if you don't want any comments on your totally defoliated plants because you found some mites on them then don't post them. simple. oh ill be in the plant problems section later if you want to follow me around trolling threads bra. coo?

hey tokie, ill let you in on a little secret I've learned about the inter webs and this site. if you want good info sometimes you have to poke big dogs with sticks. people poke me, i poke others. its fun. but when people get all butt hurt they have an incessant urge to prove their rightness. therefore they spew all sorts of great information that they'd usually not tell you to prove they know what their talking about. gotta love it.

Yes! I can't say I'm pulling 2lb/light now, but that's definitely what I'm working for. When you say "third cut" do you mean the third round of clones off the same mother? Or, do you mean you chop your harvest down in parts (like I do)?

I'll check that out that thermometer ASA$P, that will help take things to the next level.

I am shooting for a zero degree difference but It's hard to dial down because (unfortunately) I don't yet have complete environmental control. I do have to "fiddle f*ck" with fans and timers a little bit, but I'm getting it closer and closer every week. If I can get the difference down to 10 degrees in the next three months I'll be very happy. I'm thinking I need to purchase an AC for my veg room, but the best I can do is pull air from another room, and exhaust it back to that same room. I'm not sure how effective that would be. Any thoughts?

IMPORTANT: What did you mean by the last two weeks don't matter? Last two weeks of what stage? Because earlier you said "dial it in the last 2-3 weeks of flower", so I'm confused.

I meant a hygrometer/thermometer duo ;) I don't know what you'd call that in one word.

THANK YOU!

The last two weeks of flower...before the harvest. A big temp swing at that time doesn't really make a difference. It can actually hasten maturity a little bit..along with decreased co2 concentration.

Keep in mind that 2lbs a light was our best run. Others have been close but that was the best. It was a hair over, like 2lbs and 1 ounce. People that claim they are getting 2gr a watt are..well, they are full of shit. The most I have EVER seen and I have seen more than my fair share of dialed rooms is 1.54 with SOG.

Night time temps can be raised with a Dehu and a small heater.

While your shopping for a thermometer you may as well pick up a cheap light meter for $20 on eBay. Because in the end, it's all about the light.

Cheers

I HAVE A LIGHT METER! I swear by it. It was one of the first things I got because I was paranoid about wasting light ($ Electricity). Now, I know exactly how much each plant is getting, and there is no guess work about light height or plant positioning. I can't believe how many pro growers do not have one. There's no way I'd be half to where I am now without one (kudos to those who have).

I also have a dehumidifier, but I wasn't aware that it can be used to raise temps. I have vents closed in my grow room, but if I opened them every night I think I could keep temps totally consistent actually. However, I've been told that lower temps (65 or 60) are good night-time temps for flower. I know one grower who will go as low as 55 in the last two or three weeks. If you are growing MMJ in outdoors in Michigan, for example, temps can get into the 40s or even 30s at night before harvest. So long as they don't freeze or go through tremendous shock, they are good. I don't use Co2 in the last two weeks of flower, but I make sure to use it in the first four weeks. The growth was noticeably tighter (IMO).

What if temps are warmer at night than with the lights on? I know that sounds a little wierd, but with my set-up it's completely possible.

Also, any thoughts about 24hrs dark (for up to 3 days) before harvest? I usually chop mine down over the course of 3-5 days starting with the top nugs and gradually working my way down so that the bottom foliage gets a chance to develop with a little more light. If I did 24hrs dark, my biggest best nugs would not get the benefit because they would be chopped first, and the bottom buds wouldn't get their moment under intense light, so I would have to re-work my process.

1lb/light would be acceptable at this point in my career. Obviously you have to have great genetics, solid growing experience, and a completely dialed in environment before you can expect 2lbs/light. I'm not getting my hopes up ;-)

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

Cheers!

just received my clones! I'll be growing BLUE CHEESE, a cross of a blueberry male with a UK cheese fem. Anybody grow this? Seems like a pretty decent strain, I love the cheese strains!

I know the Blue Cheese strain is huge in the UK. You should check out a UK thread and I think you'll find it.

I just planted a Pre98 Bubba seed and a Larry OG seed (both fem). I also just took clones from my Em Dogs as well as my Dairy Queen. I used root riot starter plugs in a standard tray. Soaked them in Clonex conditioner for about 20 minutes before I popped the seeds and clones in. Vegging under a Pioneer IV Florescent (216 watts) until the veg room frees up, then I'll bump them up to 750w for a couple weeks, or possibly 1000w straight away. With my current schedule, I won't actually harvest the Pre98 or Larry until August... So they'll get a nice long veg :)

I used to use riot cubes in a tray, it worked great, but I made a homemade mister cloner and I have roots in 4 days with the clones solution, foot long roots in ten

Find one of these,it "reads" your area, and compensates, not fills your area with co2..cuts fans on and off when tank goes on too..must have imo..
index-1.jpeg The company went under, but I'm happy with mine, there are others out there that hate c.a.p.,but I'm happy :-D
Other company's make the same damn unit, just different look...check around.
And "great-stuff" sealant is your friend btw.
