T5 cab

so i moved everything into the new cab and may have stunted them slightly but things seems to be smooth now. i was using a small closet, but now got the cab up and running. i'm using t5's all around, some are t5ho. there's 4 up top that are 24w t5ho and 4 t5's on the rear and doors with 2 on each side (all run vertically). powdered sugar and yeast for co2 generation. the pics are before i added the last 4 lights. in flower with 2 confirmed females and one topped due to the fucker stickin his cola nuts out too early. my plan is to pollinate a few buds for the next go round. i have to stay with flouro's for size and heat issues.

any thoughts?

total wattage = 226W

Nice looking light setup! What are you doing about ventilation and what sort of temps are you seeing?

Good luck!

there's a cabinet length opening in the back, so i put a linear fan across the back. it's a nice little breeze in there. the ambient temp of the lights is around 90, so i'm not sure about actual temp but it's most likely around 80-85. i need to get a monitor, i'm just lazy lately. i was going to put in some cfl's but i think i'm sticking with t5's just to see how things turn out. the way it's set up i can basically add single t5 bars until the walls are covered, since i can daisy chain the lights. they're a little pissy right now at the change in venue, but i've seen almost 2 inches of growth in as many days. more pics will follow, but this is where i'm at now.

i've been using HO T5'S for a couple years and from what i have found is it just isnt enough "umph" to get ya thru bloom... i still use my t5's for vegitation and cloning... but i use my 1000 hps for my blooming needs..

are those the 2 foot t5? what color spectrum are you running?
3000k and 6000k. mostly 3000, i left a few blue's in there for GP..

what wattage were you at with the t5's? this is my first grow, so i'm not sure what to expect with the setup i have. wish i could use hps, it just won't work for my situation. time will tell.

may i ask where you got those lights? or at least the ballasts there on

very interested i like your set up
the top t5ho rack is made by sunblast, which was around 130bucks. the rest are 10dollar 21" 13w single bars from walmart.

on a related note, anyone have autoflower issues with flouro's? two of the fuckers autoflowered on me before i could clone anything. it's two of the six that are sticking their pubes out(ladie bushes).

northernlights x purpleurkel bagseed btw.

pic update.

two in flower, two drooping to shit and unsexed (no idea why, all plants have the same watering/feeding/lighting schedule), and one possible hermie (can someone confirm from the pic?). not sure what a hermie looks like but it looks like a cola site but never showed sex. had another grower come over to look at the setup and got good reviews. the two ladies are looking promising.

and a pic of the complete box with all lights. it's set up to facilitate a wall of lights all around, which will eventually happen. hopefully i'll help to break the t5 mythos.

edit: phone pix, so sorry for the quality. i swear it's a hell of a lot brighter than it looks.

Sweet setup. I like tube fluoro's but have never really come up with a cab design I liked to go total tubes. The plants like good, they seem to love that overhead light.
You seem to be doing this almost as an experiment now to show what the T5's have. I can totally appreciate that but man I but some cheap 26w cfl's would be an awesome compliment on the sides. I a price/watt/lumen comparison I imagine they would be a better but than the 13w 21" tubes.
All in all...excellent job

i considered it tho other day, but decided to stick with the t5's to see the overall results. next grow will most likely involve a bunch of small cfl's packed in to the walls. and i'll probably be screening next time as well to eliminate some stretching.

Yours aren't stretched much at all. The CFL's would probably help them fill out more though. In my cab I currently using one 42w CFL, seven 26w cfl, and a 4' dual tube T12 fixture running vertical on the back (w/ two 40w bulbs). When I started I had the T12 as an overhead, the plants loved it and I liked the low temps. I built this new cab and due to space changed it up.

nice man. i started with t-12's for these. the cabinet was a nice progression. they stretched a little farther than i wanted, had to stake 2 of 'em this morning.

forgot to post more updates.

soooo... 4 of 6 were males. saved one and separated it from the girls and pollinated one female. the pregnant one is growing fast as hell, and the sensi plant is moving right along. here's some cola pics. good camera was at work, so phone shots will have to do. as you can see, T5's will grow. with the cabinet's size, i don't have the option of high wattage HPS, but i may stick a 150W in there next round to see any differences in growth. it's been a fun experiment and i'll definately be using this setup again.

also, i installed ducting in the rear. no exhaust filter, i don't care if my room smells skunky in the mornings.

their on molasses super thrive and blooming nutes (i forget the company)..
