Good result from ultimate wash it tweeks the leafs a bit but over all good product. I suggest trying to catch the drippings and filter through a nylon booty what do you call those? Anyway filter it and use it to spray again. I have a big plastic tote shallow used for shoes to catch the overspray. Oh ya you have to lay your plant on its side. I use a bucket lid with a slot in it (fits around the stem) to trap the soil so it don't fall out.

What drawbacks have you had with them? I have used them in the past in small grows and know many nurseries using them currently... I hadn't heard of or seen negatives other then they eat everything thats moving and can multiply fast

Question have you ever seen them multiply? The bugs dont do anything its the larva that do all the eating. chances are you will get 1000 ladybugs and 1 male in the bunch the male wont have spots. They tend to die fast and youll be sweeping them up within a week.

Hmmm I know all uses of ladybugs i have seen last the entire grow and the growers end up recatching many to use on next grows. I don't know if they multiply but I know they are cheap. make a good impact, and last good long time.I have seen the males and females actually many non spotted ones in most containers I have seen not nearly as many females but a good amount.I like te option of praying mantis cocoons too.

Do you know if there is a trick to getting the mantis clutches to hatch? I had 4 and none hatched.

I have heard they can be difficult. Temperature and humidity apparently have to be in a short range. Now this is just hearsay possibly anecdotal. To be honest I have avoided them because of what I have heard. I do not want to just waste them. But I have been curious as of late to learn more about them. If you are in fact successful. I would like to hear about the experiences.

I had about ten of them in my green house I assume half were males and got ate. the females like to chew the heads off the males after they mate. anyway 4 laid eggs but none hatched. The wheel bug assassins took over.

Here's a good link with some great tips. I have usually done the trick where I get the egg sack and use a little double sided sticky tape and place it on the back side of the egg sac then onto a leaf in my garden. You must keep the egg sack orientated same as it was laid ie keep top end up bottom end down. Keep it warm and bit humid and they will pop. You can also make small slit at very edge to help release them too.

Also helps if you can get them local to you as the shipping can sometimes damage the egg pods

I just let them lay the eggs in the greenhouse but none hatched. Thanks for the tips and link FF. It's kind of funny how it happened. The summer before last we didn't have a ton of grasshoppers as usual. Praying mantises were munchin on them like crazy they laid eggs everywhere. Nothing in the greenhouse hatched. This past summer grasshopers were back and very few mantises. @thcbuddy I don't think a praying mantis would eat a spidermite.
