How many watts for 9 seedlings

so im going start with 9 ak 47 seedlings i was wondering if i can use my 1000 watt dimmable ballast and put like a 400 watt bulb or something if not what can i use to get these seedlings up and running i dont wont to deal with cfls any suggestions thank you

what did you do last grow ?

Smh 1000 watt on seedlings get a 24 watt t5 or two cfl , and use em untill they are fully rooted if you use that 400 you going to have to hang it pretty high and you will get a big strech if ya do and if ya keep it two low to them you will miniaturize them gl

If wanna do it hassle free get ya some rapid rooters and a tray and sprout your seedlings in there untill they are fully rooted. Then transplant them into your pots or netpots , I have keep seedlings in those plugs in the tray under a single 24 watt t5 light untill the plugs were pushing out the tray

I start mine under a 400mh at about 16inch away , obviously keep your temps under control, that way you can keep your light closer without burning them, mine never stretch I might snap a pic of a seedling and you will see what I'm saying :)

Yea but why when you can get better results popping seeds under 24watts in some plugs and a tray ??

Lol you get better results that way I don't , I start my seedling in their final pots , I start about 10 seedlings and yea that saves me lots of time, and some strains do get shocked when you transplant them, it's just my 2c y'all can do whatever you like, I'm just stating my opinion, I mean I'm sure 24 watts won't cover my tent for shii not even when I have 5 seedlings lol

i mean if i do get cfls how many should i get for 9 seedlings i mean cfls seems like to much of a hassle

i was asking because you've bought a full hid set up ...1000w!!!

and its your first time .


go with the cfl 24w which the other replys say .

im doing this atm buddy with a 45w cfl :)


have you just gone all in with buying the big lights ?

if you have , make sure you use that ballast 1000w setup PROPERLY!! ..... You'll get amazing results if you do :)

iv just switch to hps/mh from cfls....... But there's the heat of the bulbs to concider !! ....... So do some research first ;)

for seedlings you get a T-5 light, they come in 1, 4, 8 bulbs..looks like a florescent light.

you germinate in some way, then you can either choose soil or a conditioned grow plug (rockwool)

you put them in your tray or (plastic cat litter pan) under the T-5 18/6.

T-5 allows for low heat; maximum light because you can have a few inches from seedling (not kill)..and that's what you want 4-6" from seedling.

yeah i just decided to go all in i have the 1000watt ballast with a block buster 6 hood and a secret jardine tent dr 150 2.5 latest model pretty soon im looking to get the solistek ballast i heard these are really good any advice you have for me as first time grower ?

Yea get u a real good exhaust your tent has intake vents but don't skimp now

have you got yourself a temp/ humidity meter ?

your environment ( air temp , humidity, air flow , lighting ) is very important .

id set your tent up and get it all correct ..... Before you even think about putting a plant in :)

that's a nice meter buddy :) i think ill buy one myself :).

test it with lights on and off until you get it right .......if its not right keep testing :)

i mean i have central a/c and i keep the temperature at 75 degrees every day do you think they will be problems
as for the meter its awesome i had to get it its not to bad for the price and once i get my bulbs in i will keep you guys updated

75°f fine :)

check it with your lights on/off and the tent door shut ........ And your fans on .
