been gone for a week. left my dad in charge. I'm growing in 100% perlite hempy bucket with GH 3 part nutes; PH 5.8; I use water with calcium and magnesium (probably not enough?) . Came back today and was faced with this problem

hope the pics help. basically one of the branches in the middle has significantly yellow leaves (new growth mainly). Some kind of deficiency? quick search on the internet suggests that I flush... Or is it just too close to the light (150 Watt HPS)?

Also there is this lower leaf, and older leaves that have dried off and died (not exposed to the light and began yellowing anyways when I changed to bloom nutes)

cheers

I had the same issue, based on the pic since that is the highest top but site and the other bud sites don't seems to have that yellowing its definitely light toxicity from being too close to the light. Since you were gone for a week with the light staying the same height it just grew into that bleaching range, It won't turn back green jus pull the light back and it will be fine. also the rest of the plant looks good that bottom yellowing is normal I believe its called translocation of nutrients from older growth(bottom) to newer growth (top). Hope this helps, sometimes its environment issues and not nutrients!

Without more info, and I don't grow soil-less I would say some cal/mag issues interfering with the nitrogen uptake?
I'm sorry for not giving more info. I had to write this on the go.
The water is initially 3,45 mg/l of magnesium (Mg++) and 17,20 mg/l of calcium with pH being 7 ish, ppm 80ish. And I use GH pH down to about 5.8; I mix up a batch of 1 liter of nute solution everytime I need to water but I left a 5 liter solution for my dad to water over a week and it's risen to about 6.3-6.5ish since I got back which is not so bad. Runoff is good as well after nutes and everything.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. because I noticed the middle parts started going yellowish. I was just talking to my girlfriend about translocation (btw I never knew it was called that) the other day. It's a very dense foliage (Kush variety) and I was expecting that older leaves would fall off. It's just the dark brown spots I was curious about. I had my dad pull back the light while I was gone but I guess I didn't quite know how it would react and how much it would need to be pulled back. This is my first HID grow, and second grow overall.

Anyways thanks mateys isssued fixed :blsmoke:

grapefruit, your dad did good. those things still look fine. don't obsess. have you had a harvest before? cause it doesn't look detrimental.
Thanks man. Nice to see ya postin again :D. I'm not sure what you mean, but yes I've harvested an autoflower before (it was shite really) and no I haven't had a sample of this one

Looks like your back on top of your grow so problems solved. Just wanted to point out that high ph would start locking out nutes and would support my point about your issue. Big difference between 5.8 and 6.5.

Point taken mate what I meant to say is that I'm pretty sure it didn't go straight to 6.5 overnight and I've flushed with 7.0 pH water for a while at some point and it didn't do much damage :D

what i mean is that looks fine. i say that a lot but really, one or two yellow leaves won't be the end of good things to come. plants die, thats the end of the life cycle. its not made to keep growing forever. it will have more dead leaves as it grows. when they're done you can usually tell that they're..done.
