I might still enter (inda grow light maybe?) but it takes a plant away from my plant count and that really sucks I can yield a lot more in a 5 gal than a party cup and I need the meds so it's a tough decision to enter.

I'll tell you this, in the past there is usually only about a dozen or so finishers, and this round there's at least 10 prizes to be given away.... I don't want to hijack this thread with all my party cup competition BS.... check out the link in my signature...

You would compare the 150 to the solarflare not solarstorm btw and I have 2 identical size tents one with the older model solarstorm "bloom booster" and the other has a 2012 A51 ("AF120" I believe was the model, I could be off on the name but similar wattage). I can take pics and you will be able to see were the Cali Lightworks tent has darker corners etc.. My 160s are in a 3x3 so I don't think that's a fair comparison but the AF120 tent has always outperform the CLW tent when running the same clones in same buckets etc.

Yes very helpful. And u are right because the solar flare pulls 160 watts at the wall. But its quite impressive that the a51 always outperforms the solar flare. Very anxious to try out the area 51`s. Would like to wait for the newer models in April/May but I may get a couple rw 150 now and a couple newer models afterwards.

I am still up n the air about which LED next? I buyin tomarrow! Got it down to 2 RW150 or CL 440 or 2 intelligent gro 180 area51 will cost 840 shipped- CL is 768 to the door-I have 10 percent of code for intelligent gro its 847 but I also get controller/daisy chain! Hard decision been goin back n forth??? which would u go with???

It looks like you know exactly which choice you're making. Otherwise why ask in this thread where you know you're only gonna get one answer?! Everyone's gonna tell you to buy the Intelligent Grow lights OBVIOUSLY! :grin:

I know I know I will be buying 2 150 tommarrow! I needed em 2 weeks ago.damn $ finally comin tomarowow! I am anxious to try A51 out next to the K5 750 I bought couple months ago. I knew I wasn't ever gonna buy the CL, but the IG 180 look alright,but are they?

I just ordered 2 x RW75 to go in my 2x4x4 tent. I think it should handle 2 or 3 of my lst'd darlings. Because I'm so height challenged, I'm thinking of hanging them on a slight angle on the far right and left, so they will be focused toward the center. That should give me the best overlap and penetration and maybe even me a few more inches of height. My previous led's are an Apollo 8 and an HTG "280W" that is only half lit. I've repurposed the HTG for vegging (with a handful of cfl's) and I might throw the Apollo in between the RW75's if that seems like the thing. Would be about 300W of led power at that point - scrog or sog would have to be killer!

And will it cover a bigger area if if its 24" vs 18" above ?
Also, is the coverage the same as RW150 ? which the optimal would be 24" x 30" according to area51 website.
And how deep does it penetrate? 3 feet? 4 feet? And does one XGS190 compare to 190w HPS? or maybe 400w HPS ?

20-24 inches vegin 16-20 for the rest of the way just make sure u tie em down as much as possible. I always tie a branch down every feeding big ones first!

With my XGS 190, I do 36" for seedlings, 24"-30" in veg, and 18"-24" in flower, depending on the strain.
The RW-150, and the XGS-190, will give you similar coverage. That being said, the RW-150 will give you much better canopy penetration, due to it's more direct angle lenses. The XGS is the best veg light I have ever used, but when it comes to flowering, it's okay, but not great. The deep red diodes, and the direct lenses, make the RW a much better light for flowering. It will also do a good job vegging, too. I rank the RW as a better all purpose light than the XGS.

In term of a comparison, two RW-150's, will surpass the yield of a 400 HPS. Four RW-150's are a suitable replacement for a 1000W HPS, and can cover the same area (4'x4'), with a comparable yield.

Just for reference I bought (5) RW-150's about a month ago and I've had nothing but problems. The worst part is, I have Chocolopes in a vert hps tent 4 ft away and they're greener, perkier, and twice the size. I had to keep swapping keepers because the ones under hps look sooooooo much better. I might have had the lights too far away before. I had them about 2 feet away. Now I'm trying to keep them around 16 inches. I I had them hanging high with chains. Now they're hung with rope ratchet hangers. I'm trying to blame this on a learning curve.

Also, 3 days after I bought them one broke. All the red lights stopped working all of a sudden. I was out of a light for 3 weeks. I actually need 6 to fill my 48"x96" tent. But, I want to see if these lights actually work. Still trying to chalk it up as a learning curve. The temps are also much lower which I think might slow down their metabolism. (70-75F vs 80+) From my obsessive weeks of research they seemed like the best lights short of making your own. I have some Ace seedlings and other veg I'll be setting up on a tray today. I'll let you guys know how I make it out. Now that I think about it, it will make a lot of sense to use much smaller containers because they will probably be drinking less.

Hopefully I just have to dial things in. Peace.
