hey everyone this is my first grow. i have a 3x3x5 tent w/ a cali lightworks solarflare 220 LED. I have sprouted 8 seedlings and now it is almost time to transplant them. The problem I am running into is the soil/nutes I wanted to get foxfarm ocean forest and I cannot get it locally. I looked online and the shipping prices are crazy high... I was wondering if there are some decent alternatives that i could find at home depot or lowes because where i live those are about my only 2 choices as to where i can buy gardening stuff due to the freezing temps. If anyone has any suggestions as an alternative that i can buy locally at HD or Lowes, or if anyone knows of where i can buy FoxFarm ocean forest and the nutes. with free or cheap shipping please let me know! Thanks guys and happy growing! :)

You can easily mix your own with ingredients from HD or Lowes.

One Recipe:
20% peatmoss
20% Perlite or Perlite/Vermiculite mix
10% sand
25% Composted Manure
25% Mushroom Compost
(at least 2 types of compost, more types, even better)

any specific sand? and the peat moss will help air out the soil correct? and i just mix all together?

Percentages are off the top of my head, the key is to get enough drainage/air from the sand/perlite/vermiculite/peatmoss and enough good and balanced organic matter from the compost.

As long as you have 30-50% draining material you should be good.

I like to use silica sand (white sand for blasting or patio fill, fine sand), but coarser sand is better for drainage. Peatmoss will add air and moisture retention and some nutrients and lower the PH a bit.

As far as Foxfarm is concerned, make sure you've called everybody around you incluiding even small landscaping operations. Where I found it at I still can't believe. It was just a little Landscaping outfit that I never would have thought would carry it but they did. In regular OF and Happy Frog too !

That's how I roll too.
Prime is where it's at!
I signed up for the Prime for the free shipping but i canceled it like 5 mins later...i don't know that it would be worth $100 a year to me, when i don't order all that much stuff from amazon. but who knows, i may use them more than i used too because i was very happy with shipping and found some really good prices on stuff i needed. I think i bought everything from amazon except my tent, light, and filter.

I was shopping on line for a set of fender flares.
E-bay was $450 + 250 freight.
Amazon had the same ones for less than $400 and the freight was 7 bucks.
That's the day I got "Primed".

I'm sure you already know this, but you're going to need a lot more light if you're looking to fill that tent.. I have their older model 200 in a tent that is pretty much exactly half yours (36x20x60) and it doesn't fill it up.. Good luck tho!

my buddy has same as me cali lighworks 220 and his last harvest was 487grams , and in a 2x3 tent.. but my plan is to use that 3x3 tent and the LED for veg only after this first run
