Organic 400w CoolTube SCROG

Is the Scrog worth it? Just bend and bend really right? Pretty much the underlying theme.
Pretty much :)

Its just a really easy way to do Low Stress Training. It is supposed to create an even canopy so all the buds have equal access to the light. I think that I will be changing the hood for my next scrog though. I don't thing the cool tube is a great reflector. A lot of the light escapes both open ends of the fixture and also there is metal at the ends of the reflector that is blocking the light from the corners of my scrog. So this SCROG isnt so strong. That being said I am hoping for a better yield than I have been getting previously. I think I can turn this 3x3 tent into a pound a run with the right high yielding strains. I need to get better at scrogging in the meantime.

No.......
The "underlying theme" is getting good light to as many budsites as possible.
I keep the screen 6" from the top of the pots.
As the plant grows up thru a few inches, I pull it back down thru the screen and get it moved farther away horizontally (again and again).
This exposes the lower budsites that would be shaded in a normally grown plant.
In the shade these become the small larfy , airy buds that some commercial growers will actually discard.
If a SCROG is done well, you will turn most of those larfy little buds into nice nugs, along with the major colas of the plant.
This is WHY scrog systems are done... to produce more NUGS !

Thanks for the info. Makes more sense thanks a lot. Was thinking of going to that but one thing at a time and already experimenting with another idea so maybe next cycle

Have that same hood, have the wings on as it is one of 2. The other being a daystar AC. Have them both air cooled. Can that hood be used vertically?

I'm actually torn between scrolling this whole run or mainlining ?!?!?!?

I like the looks of your room! I'm doing my research into investing (from scratch) into a similar sized tent. I think right now I'm looking at a 4 x 2 x 5 ft tall. I've been reading really conflicting things about lighting amounts per space, and I see that you started with a 400w but had to add more lighting. Do you feel that for a similar sized space a 600w HPS would be sufficient for flowering? I intend to use the screen method as well.

Also how many plants to you have there, in what size pots? How long did you veg for before flipping to 12/12?

Dude please please reply to me on what type of soil you are using? im guessing you cooked up some shit? you have root and all sorts of weed life in your medium its beautiful to me and something i really havent seen since i pulled dirt from my back yard when i was younger

im using recycled soil from a couple of bags i used in the past of FFOF. I also use worm castings that i make in my basement. the worms eat scraps from my kitchen and cardboard and paper and leaves roots from the plants. then I blend that with the recycled soil as well as some rock dusts. I got my rock dusts for this run in a mineral pack from KIS organics. if you are interested in building living soil check those guys out :)

also I used clover seed that I bought for the cover crop or living mulch. then I throw down stinging nettle for some mulch as well. I've got live worms in all the pots :)

does that answer for you? if you are more interested in it I would go to the organics section of this site and check out the recycled organic living soil thread. it is bitchin!

To be honest with you I think that a good quality 400w would be just fine in this space. I got a cheap one from ebay and I dont have a good reflector. it could be that I would just have to change my fixture to get better coverage. but as for now I'm just adding some side lighting. a 600w would technically be perfect for a 3x4 and a 400w is perfect for a 2x4. that is going by the 50watts per square foot rule for HID lighting. I think I'm ok running the 400w in a 3x3. But if you get the 2x4 tent and a 400w I think you will be stylin!

there are 3 plants in this scrog and I vegged for roughly 7 weeks before i flipped them :) but they only veged maybe 3 weeks under the screen. the rest of the time was in a seed/clone tent.

yeah i can take the reflector off and use it vertically. i have thought about it. i do a 250w barebulb vert in a 3x3 footprint as well. i like vertical but in this 3x3 tent horizontal is easier. im hoping it yields better for me :)

Hey boss love the quick response! i've actually been inoculating some of my own ''super soil'' for the past 45 or so days in the begining it had a small but nice micro web of sort, i got excited and mixed that in. Well ever since i did that i havent seen the web since and my soil has been quite moist not wet but damp in a way its browning around the outside which im guessing is humus forming. I am very excited to see what super soil can produce. Right now im looking into building my garden, its going to be indoors 8x8 or 10x10 I have a big question man really need to figure out if i should do 4 400 watts or 4 600watts. Im going to be hopefully comercial gardening in the near future so i need to set my sights on more light spread with still great output and lumens for huge buds. most likely going to be doing cool tubes to me they seem to be more efficient and cheaper than hoods, less room for air to move around in seems better to me. Lets talk people!

also!@ i never added live worms to my soil, only ewc. 0-5-0 or something like that. Is it to late now to add live worms? would that be a great idea? if so how do i buy them? if i cant buy them you gotta help me make that worm composter lol... and last worms will stay alive while soil inocs? and even when you use in pots?
