Any Experienced hydro growers? Need tips on growing hydro.

I run 1 plant under 1000w, best way to grow in my state.

Plus one of the biggest noob mistakes occurs in the equipment buying stage. Never have a pre detirmined setup "per say" because what u think is gonna work is gonna have to be tweaked. Takes years of growing to dial in conditions pre setup.

If you need 600w, buy a 1000. If you need a 6" fan, buy a 12" w/ a controller. More expensive to start but will save you money in the long run. This turns into a hobby amd you always will end up wanting to improve/perfect!

Makes perfect sense, thanks man. When it comes to nutrients what can I do to improve on taste? You know, because I want to grow good yields but don't want my buds to be tasteless or taste bad.

Theres a lot of controversies over this subjuct. When growing with hydro many people will tell you to flush your plant out at the end of the flower cycle to help get rid of any nutrient flavors. While others will tell you that is completely unnecessary unless your overloading your plant with nutes the whole time. At night most of the nutes are stored in the roots. One thing you can do for sure though is to give them 12-24 hours of darkness on there last night and chop them down without ever turning the lights on. This is because turpenes an flavanoids (the things that give weed its taste and smell) build up over night and are released during the day, being at their lowest level right before lights out.

Remember that you are pumping a large volume of climate controlled air out of your home with your venting (most likely.) This is very inefficient, every bit of air pumped out is now leaking in from outside and needs to be heated/cooled again, you want your vent at minimum speed that keeps temp/humidity. So don't go nuts and get a 12", lol. 4" is what 90% of the grows on here need, but 6" is used since fixtures usually use this size.

Taste is subjective, do your own side by side testing on flushing vs no flushing and cure well in either case. You will get strong feelings on either side, so no point listening, just try for yourself.

Many like to say organic soil tastes better, they taste almost identical to me when grown side by side with DWC. Again, try clones of the same plant in each medium/nute and decide what your tongue and brain think of the results.

Just harvest under normal non-grow lighting after it's last dark period, give it a longer dark period if you wish. THC % is a few ticks higher in the AM than the PM.

A flashlight should be enough to chop them down with, preferable with green light. Just don't turn your grow light on for lighting.

BTW, if you bother with harvesting in the AM under lesser lighting, make sure you also dry it in the dark. (mold likes dark so don't let it dry too slow.)

Is drying and curing the same thing or different method on drying. I'm asking because if I'm planing on doing both will I run the risk of getting molds or other things that might mess up the buds?

Personally I usually cut the branches off of the main stem and hang them up for a few days in a warm, dark, and dry area until there crisp to the touch.(they feel dry but there not)Then trim the buds off the branches and put them into jars for curing, opening them every once in a while to let the moist air out. You'll notice quickly that there moist again and that's because they sweat the moisture from the inside out.

Im not saying anyone in this thread but this site is full of people with 1 grow under their belts who have elevated themselves to master grower status.
Eg: years ago I found a folier spray recipe online. Long story short. 10 fried plants. $150 worth of beans shot, one month of hydro and my time wasted. I can only blame myself.
Of course I should have tested one plant. Of course hind sight is 20/20

Taste is all about keeping things dialed in the entire flower cycle.

Anything else is splitting hairs. Guarantee nobody on here can tell the difference between a plant chopped in the morning or at night, LOL.

You want a dark, cool place to hang your plants

I keep my house warm not cool to me, around 75 and I've never had an issue with mold. As long as you keep the humidity down or have constant air exchange around the buds there's no reason they should mold over.

I disagree too. 6" fan is fine. Telling him to buy a 12" fan 'just in case' is like telling a single guy to buy a mini van just in case he decides to settle down and start a family. He just wants to grow3 plants for crying out loud.
