I'm a very strong minded person, most would consider me type a personality, not that you could tell from the post above lol...
Now that I've cooled off n the paranoia went away, I totally feel the same way! Prison is horrible either way. But dont do the lady if you cant have the baby lol... Anyways, paying him isn't going to help in any way. Its an omission of guilt and allows him a position of dominance from here on out... Boy anybody can be irrational and make themselves believe anything... Stop n think... Lol

His inception has failed,
The pursuit of happiness prevails fellas!

Thanks!

You took a risk and purchased used ballasts and bulbs?
The bulbs were burned out, but the ballasts worked?
You complained to Ebay, and got all your money back, plus you kept the working ballasts?
Now he wants to be paid for the working ballasts that you still have, minus what some new bulbs will cost you?

Is all that right? If so, you owe him for the ballasts. You don't get to keep them for free.

Wrong. NO Payment transaction of any kind should be made outside ebay, if he owed money to the shyster, ebay would have legally sorted this matter.

So the seller pays an asshole tax, and he's out the ballasts that work?

The OP gets to feel like he didn't "sink to dude's level" and gets the free ballasts as a reward?

That's like complaining about your food at a restaurant, getting it removed from your bill, then asking for it to be boxed up so you can take it home.

So you would have blackmailed the buyer too, and you want positive seller feedback?

I see both your points, I'm a fair person, I got two lights, said they worked. They didn't, it was bulbs. Now, I paid 51 + 61 for each plus 39 shipping. So 151, I contacted him with complaint, he said he'd send some old used bulbs out, never did, I ordered more. Paid 70 and opened a case. He never responded to anybody until they took the 151 out of his account. He called within the hour.

Anyways, yes I think its unfair I get all of this for free, but now that he's threatened me, do I give in to it, even on that basis? It still gives him leverage in future.

????

I know, blackmail... But I know my local PD and they would love to get to me, this would be probable cause for garbage, flir, and who knows...

He's from buffalo, anyone from buffalo? I got his name
Perhaps let him know extortion iss a serious crime. Ask him why the police would care about your rose/orchid garden & Tell him you hope you dont have to get legal rerepresentation and to have a good day.

Buying a light isn't enough probable cause for a far away police department to go through the hoops of looking into you. You could be growing any plant that exists.

But if you wanna be a good guy, pay for the stuff that worked...

He coukd just be panicked because he needs the cash

Send the bulbs in case he stays pissed and accuses you of lying?

You got two lights for $151? That sounds like a decent deal just for the ballast and socket. I dunno man, it was used so I think it's a not so good deal for the seller. Used on ebay should always be a caveat.

Too late now, but, I woulda just took the hit and let him have the dough and bought new bulbs. On the other hand if he described the bulbs as working, bad on him. Nevertheless, I love ebay and rarely buy used. Bought some dirt bike pegs, used, and dude sent me golf balls. I was like dude I don't play golf. We worked it out and I just shipped the balls to the guy who bought them and got my pegs. It was an honest mistake and I even payed for the shipping. He sent me a check I never cashed it.

It's tough to judge this situation, you obviously got the better end of the deal and maybe seller felt he took a hit so included bad bulbs. I dunno. Just buy new or accept the chance used stuff may not work.

I was gonna send this:

I will do as I said. Pay you $42 . 112-70=42. Not because of the blackmail/extortion, but because I personally believe its unfair I get all this for free because of your bad. I struggled with this all night because for me to give into somebody's threats, I'm not that guy, even though you withdraw your threat, I won't tolerate it. I will give you what's fair one time. Then were done. But if I ever hear anything from you again, I will be on my way there, actually I have family there and my source sayes your mother Linda's a realtor. Easy to make an appt, bet she's a doll, love to meet her! found that tote also, the garbage bag with duct tape one, I have all your info as well. Except yours is probably right, cause mine wasn't...

See how this works, but I don't want it to be like that. So please, remain a gentleman, and so will I.

I don't bullshit, so please be careful not to make a deal with the devil for $42 if you can't follow through. And don't forget, YOU MADE IT LIKE THIS, NOT ME... SO DONT BE MAD AT ME, BE MAD AT YOURSELF.

LET ME KNOW

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Dude. Who buys used light bulbs and expects them to work? We all know the lumens of HPS fade over time right. So you needed bulbs anyway. Are the ballast and socket worth $151?

No offense but, dude may need his money to feed his children or something. I think you are both at fault not working this out. Other guy sounds like a terrible seller. Probably shouldnt even be doing it, but you need to pay him or have him pay you for shipping it back.

He said they were used, only 1000_1200 hours, so that's one grow. Lumen spectrum won't fade for 6-12 months, pending what you buy.

Whatever man. I feel you are just trying to take advantage of this situation and want free. I mean, you should have just sent his stuff back to him as an unsatisfied buyer and made him pay return shipping. Stop being such a drama queen. I think you just don't wanna pay and want free stuff. Hopefully dude learned from this to not sell stuff on ebay. I've bought TONS of stuff on eBay, and other than the little mishap with the dirt bike every thing has been copacetic. I've bought like 7 things in the past two weeks. Including dwarf banana trees and they were a super value and came beautiful and healthy. I bought live turtles once too. Not from ebay. Good biz, is good biz for the buyer and seller. I would never buy a "used" bulb period. It has a lifecycle. And could have been damaged in shipping. I would not want to do ebay biz with either of you.

lol. I was digging around in my junk drawer and found a slew of used batteries. I will sell them to you for half price! lol. It's cool bro, I feel you are as much at fault as the other guy though. But, I don't know everything and that's merely a feeling.

Back in the late 90s, people were selling partially used packs of cigarettes on ebay, claiming that if you buy it now, there will be more left in the pack. Of course, back then I also found a "portal to hell", a classroom of japanese elementary school children, and many people's souls for sale.

I used to collect Camel Bucks. They were kinda like Marlboro bucks. When you got so many you could exchange them for gifts. Don't, remember exactly what happened, I think gov outlawed them. But, back then they were being sold all over ebay. I didn't use them before they were outlawed. Of course I just mostly buy normal stuff on eBay. lol. Mostly new to. Why would anyone buy used light bulbs? Seriously? lol

Yeah, I don't know. This thread really confuses me now. I have no idea what really went on, and I'm starting to really not care.
