2 different plants from seeds off the same plant Critical Hog

I want to run this out there and see if anyone has run across this before.. From a fem critical hog we grew last cycle i got a few seeds from. They are growing up completely different. Its like one is the sativa end and the other is the indica. They are 4 weeks into 12/12
how they are growing: I love to mainline so each one of these are set for 8 kolas. Very healthy and hardy. The sativa one has stopped growing and building buds but the indica is still cranking out there and still developing.. is fucking sick lol
I will try to post some pics later tonight.

Same seeds from the same plants.. WTF

So.... My parents had kids. Same two parents, had 4 kids. Each kid has the same mix of genes from the parent, 1/2 from mom and 1/2 from dad. The kids are growing up to be completely different. One is tall, one had blue eyes, one is a girl (gasp!). I just don't get it. The kids are all from the same parents why aren't the kids identical?

Same kids from the same parents? Wtf?

I couldn't resist that one...

To OP.

My exact copy of genes is actually a mixup of my grandparents genes.

You can have a whole population with the same genes, but they all look different etc because of the exact ways that those genes are combined and recombined, paired with environmental influence.

Basically, your seeds are all one population, and the variance within that population shows the variance in the parents genotype.

You'll probably find a keeper or two if you search through those seeds :-)

I would have made the comment if you hadn't :P

Yes i have learned first hand and i have quit a few years growing... but there is always a first for everything.

What really put me off is they are identical in ever statute. The buds on both are sick. they are both the same size in height.
the sativa side's buds are growing both in height and density as fast as the indica is.
It was a fem seed bought from attitude seed bank so i am not sure what the sativa cross is. She was first grown above 7000ft in Colorado and now she is at sea level. so atmospheric pressure normally has an effect.

So yes i am finding out first hand but these are not growing in different ways like all the others i have ever heard about. Either way they are fucking sick and i am looking forward to harvest time. I am mostly a mainline grower now and i am super impressed with this so far.

Just found out the cross is critical mass basque county with the Tenn hog.

I want to cross this with a sweet cheese i have? (The critical mass i have that split the hog) Yes i can graft. so a shot in the dark. anyone familiar with either of these strains to add some input.

Thanks

s1 seeds are not going to give you uniform phenotypes...most of the time the plants you get out of the first generation of selfed seeds are nothing like the parents at all.

thanks. so a s2 would be more uniformed ?
Then if i graft sweet ortega or a sweet cheese or both it will be up in the air with what i get for seeds if i fem them out.?

grafting is one way of cross breeding. Not hating BUT come on dude There are over 100 ways to cross breed. Different strains require different ways for success and since the critical hog split, this gives me the critical mass that is crossed with the tenn hog to cross with something else.
Since i make fem seeds... i can graft and fem it out for seeds it's that easy.
Going into the DNA is another way.. and like i said over 100 other ways.

call me crazy but, I thought breeding was you know intermingling those genes. Grafting is attaching plants to each other. Now if you have plant numbers to worry about, then grafting helps you get around that and allows for more varied breeding. Just saying some of your wording is a little confusing, i don't think I'm the only one but I'm not the sharpest tack in the box. :)

I'm just busting your balls a little. Anyone can put a seed in the dirt and give it water, that doesn't make them a good grower. No hate just saying get a little knowledge and ask questions that can't be found within 5 minutes of using the search function and you'll get a lot more respect and advice on your grow. I'm not a breeder but as I understand it fem seeds could be more stable genetically so I took your question at first to be more advanced. But it makes sense that within that gene pool, even with a fem it's going to be some what varied in phenotypes depending on the breeding that happened before you got your seeds and how you got your seeds.

Yes me too i am just a stoner whos choice of words are not that great sometimes lol Like i say not hating at all. I have been at it for 38 years and still learning every day.

You can cross bread by taking pollen from one plant and rub it onto another.

You can either cut the plant in the middle and graft another on it. or graft onto another branch.

These are just a few out of a 100. The worry will be the the genetics of the grafting plant.
will it be a t1. will it be a wild batch.
But with me feminizing it after to get seeds.. is pretty much the same as putting pollen on it, I just get the chance to have some of it with seeds and able to smoke the rest. lol

I am a main-liner grower. high stress and more. Some strains do not do very well with genetic change. That was why i asked here. A critical mass rasque county is pretty good. That was what they crossed the Tenn Hog with to get the critical hog. from TH SEEDS. We do not buy a lot but we had to try the ghost,mk ultra and critical hog a couple of cycles ago.

Peace out

Not experienced with grafting, but now your question makes more sense. So have you seen plants express themselves differently after they've been grafted? I have wondered about grafting strains that don't veg fast to ones that do, and getting an improved strain. Some varieties are great like blue dream for instance, but not my preference for high and taste, but it's vigor put into a strain that is finicky or slower to veg could be an interesting plant. Might take too long to be practical for indoor but not for an outdoor plant.

Yes some strains are very unpredictable.

There are a lot of ways to work slow and fast. If some like to stretch when you put them in flower, take away vit B and give them more Carbohydrates. This will take away that and leave it shorter. Mostly used on Sativa's if you are trying to keep an even canopy.
I am a big super cropper with main lining. So i will just shape it to what and where i want it.

Do you want to play.. take a tomato plant and graft it to a plant. You will get the best tasting tomato you ever had :)

I dont get it. Over 100 ways to cross breed?
So you are grafting a strawberry branch on a marijuana plant, and are getting a new strawberry marijuana plant that grow pot leaves and strawberries for nugs.
This seems very similar to the aforementioned grafting breeding. I think if you graft an og kush onto a super silver haze plant and pollinate it with blueberry pollen, that you will get 2 batches of seeds og x blueberry and ssh x blueberry. Is what you are saying that we would get a whole new og blueberry haze? From which seed stock?

Do the tomatoes get you high?

Yes they get you high, if you stand on your roof first! LOL I'm just playing it could actually happen but I don't think with tomatoes. Hops perhaps. Search "graft chimaera" and then search "bizzaria of florence" The plants have to be "close enough" for it to work. If you mess with the chromosome count you could potentially stretch that bridge a little further. If you made a tetraploid marijuana with 40 chromosomes there may be some other plant close enough that also has 40 chromosomes that you could thereafter cross with.
